Amazon has just dropped the price on 4 Lodge pieces....and these prices are the lowest that Amazon.com has sold them for (1st time lows!!), according to camel3x.

These are also Available on walmart.com for the same prices now (REDUCED prices, effective early this morning!), so I am assuming this is a price match. I have added the links below to Walmart for those who will opt to order from Walmart instead (possible in-store pickup)

The Lodge Color 6 Qt. Dutch Oven is Cooks Illustrated's current Best Buy for cast iron dutch ovens. They weigh a lot of factors. I'm sure manufacture is one of them. If you require one not made in China, you will need to spend 3 to 10 times the price as a norm.

Besides, seems to be pretty much a non-issue for most, based on reviews and overwhelming SD support of the Lodge Color Enameled Dutch Ovens and the Tramontina Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Ovens (also made in China).

Ditto. Get the regular cast iron items with no coating for the made in Tennessee versions.Big Grin

Also you can throw the pure cast iron ones in a fire outside in case the zombies take out the power. My zombie rack of Lodge pans is ready to go. I wonder if you can use zombies for fuel?laugh out loudLMAO

$30 is not too much for a quality pan.

My wife did buy some of the enameled ones for decoration only. Strange as they have different lid handles as one is metal and I cannot tell what the other one is. Looks like bake lite.

Most folks that are in the market for and prefer the enameled aren't really interested in camp style cookware. But thanks for the input. I put up a thread a while back for some great deals on the regular cast iron...combo cookers and such. Those are a much better value than that $30 dutch oven.

Yep, kind of have too many at the present time. I think I have most of the collection of cast iron. Even the large outdoor hanging pot. Have yet to use anything but the skillet on my induction stovetop and the pizza pan and large skillet on the grill. Can't remember how big the skillet is but it is very large.

Maybe this one???????????

The 3-quart dutch ovens are quite shallow, right?

I don't recommend these as gifts. The last time I gave my gf a dutch oven, she slapped me.

It all depends on your gf, I guarantee my gf will be ecstatic over the 15 inch skillet. Thanks op!

This series is made for campfire cooking on a grate (not in the fire) or on an old wood stove where the surrounding area is hot (hence the long wire handle). The lid handle is cast iron, not bakelite. Here is your lid lifter Amazon [amazon.com]
