THIS DEAL SEEMS TO BE DEAD as of late Sunday.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this but here goes.

A few days ago I installed the The Amazon 1Button App from the amazon site on firefox. You can also get it from the firefox addon website.
So far, whenever you go to a shopping website, the little app will show you the amazon price of the item you are looking at. Sometimes they were lower and sometimes higher.

But the neat trick happened today. While looking around the sears site I noticed that every time my amazon app showed their price at the top of my web browser, the sears price changed to match the amazon price.
If amazon carries it, then sears will match it.

For those that are more devious. If you find a price mistake on amazon, it would be interesting to see if sears will match it look around

I saved a bunch of cash this morning on stuff I needed plus I was able to use my SYWR points to help pay and use sears coupons to boot.

Very interesting. Could you post an example or two of what you bought earlier with price matching?

yeah I've noticed lately they've been matching amazon or beating them on prices. Pretty great when you consider all the points you get free from them.

Yea I noticed they had the same price on some automotive items. Their website really needs to be simplified though

Probably still going to be worse off for most people as you don't often have to pay tax for Amazon and you won't enjoy that benefit with Sears. Might be decent for those in California and the like though.

I think 50% of the country now pays tax at amazon. I know in both Kentucky and Indiana where I have things shipped they have started collecting it.

How do you know they are price matching as a direct result of you having the app installed? I would think they are probably just price matching amazon to stay competitive without any kind of interaction from a customer like yourself similar to how other retailers do this. I don't think they are automatic like you think where they blindly just price match amazon based on the product you're viewing on their site.

nothing to do with the app. Sears has been price matching Amazon for quite sometime now.

I'd rather buy from amazon and avoid tax. I'm willing to wait 2 days for Prime shipping.
