There are a lot of great credit cards to get cashback (Amex Blue Cash, Chase Freedom, Discover IT, many others) but this is a pretty great deal if you already have a paid Sam's club membership IMO.

New Personal and Business Sam's Club MasterCards

Earn 5% cash back on Gas Purchases (up to $6000, then 1% on purchases after)*
Earn 3% cash back on Dining and Travel*
Earn 1% cash back on Other Purchases*
No Annual Fee (Sam's Club membership required)
Online Account Management (SamsClub.com/credit)

Fine Print:
Rewards percentages depend on the type of purchase made (5% for gas purchases at U.S. and Puerto Rico Sam's Club and Walmart fuel stations, and at Gas Stations located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico (but excluding purchases at fuel stations at wholesale clubs (other than Sam's Club), certain supercenters, and supermarkets), for up to the first $6,000 in gas purchases each year and 1% thereafter; 3% for dining and travel purchases (excluding purchases at wholesale clubs other than Sam's Club) and 1% for all other Eligible Purchases).

OK. I already commented on this in another thread a couple months ago. It's my understanding that the gas purchases are nationwide...right?

We got an email directly from Sams yesterday. It says... "5% cash back on gas at U.S. and Puerto Rico gas stations and on gas at Sam's Club (on first $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1% on purchases after).

So yes, appears to be nationwide at any gas station!

What about Costco pumps? Costco 4% business Amex won't pay on gas pumped at other warehouse stores. I wonder if Sams has the same restriction.

Impossible to say at the moment. It's been a while (~ 5 years) since I had a Costco membership and credit card but I seem to remember Costco requiring you to have their Amex to pump gas. I could be wrong. But if you can get the Sam's card to swipe then I'd think you'd still get the credit.

*Sam's Club® MasterCard® cardholders are eligible to earn cash back rewards on purchases made with their Sam's Club® MasterCard® account. Rewards apply to net card purchases (minus returns). Rewards percentages depend on the type of purchase made (5% for gas purchases at U.S. and Puerto Rico Sam's Club and Walmart fuel stations, and at Gas Stations located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico (but excluding purchases at fuel stations at wholesale clubs (other than Sam's Club), certain supercenters, and supermarkets) for up to the first $6,000 in gas purchases each year and 1% thereafter; 3% for dining and travel purchases (excluding purchases at wholesale clubs other than Sam's Club) and 1% for all other Eligible Purchases). Maximum of $5,000 in cash back rewards can be earned in a calendar year. Cash back checks are issued each February for the cash back earned during the previous calendar year. Cash back rewards are forfeited if the Sam's Club® MasterCard® account is not in good standing, if the Sam's Club Membership terminates or lapses, or if the cash back earned in a calendar year is less than $5.00. Cash back checks will be made payable to Sam's Club and may be cashed only at a Sam's Club location. See the "How to Earn Cash Back with your Sam's Club® MasterCard® "rewards program for details.

Mastercard customer service sucks. I had an ordeal with them on their extended warranty. Their customer service was unhelpful.

Cosco is a no-no. I have a sep kid that works for Sams and that's what they have been told.

This is a nice bonus to get out of that card. From what I know the old sams discover cards were fairly crappy. Looking forward to getting this card.

That 6k is a lot of gas. Around 30 gal/wk depending on what the price per gallon is?

agreed, the old cards were a complete waste of time. I was really surprised that they brought their A game with this card.
