Super awesome find on this TV. Even though this is last year's model, it was considered one of the best televisions produced by a lot of experts.

What makes this worth $500 more then the Sony 65" 850 that is on sale at frys for $1499?

Thanks!

I'd also like to know the answer to this. The tv looks great but it's definitely a lot more expensive, so what are we getting with that added expense?

Stay away from East Coast TV. See reviews on them.

I got a UN55D8000 Samsung about awhile back for 1500..

These 8000 series are serious F'in TVs. The picture on these is stunning. Normally, it's hard for the average person to see the difference between HDTVs, but when people like my mom (who cant tell SD from HD sometimes) saw the 8000 series TV, she couldnt stop talking about the picture lol..

East Coast TVs, Abe's of Maine, and a few other stores from NJ are well-known to upsell you hard. After ordering a TV, they usually give you a call to have you upgrade the shipping to "white glove", and if you refuse, your tv could take WEEKS to ship even though the site shows availability.

That being said, your TV will eventually show up at your doorstep if you are willing to wait. Read over the thread at AVS for personal stories, and beware of posters with minimal history as they are likely fake reviewers from AoM or ECTV (VERY shady...)

Also, beware of using the PAYCHECK coupon code as it is intended for customers who purchase with a money order, or negates the free shipping, depending on who calls you.

I have the 4k version of this TV and the picture quality is amazing. What separates this from other TVs is the seemingly unlimited options to adjust your picture settings, and the intuitive Smart TV features. Not to mention how nice the TV/stand looks Smilie

The PQ and the backlighting mainly. This years 850 from what I recall is actually worse than last years 800 but they bumped up the model # and expected people to bite.

Either are probably more than enough TV wise for the masses. I have a 55" F8000 and it's awesome.

Only thing I've heard is that while the 55"'s are more or less all great the 60" and up have a different panel (Sharp??) and are somewhat hit and miss. I have no banding, ghosting, flashlighting, etc. but I hear those issues seem to crop up a lot more on the 60" and greater F8000s. In other words make sure it's got a decent return policy but again it's a great TV in general and this is a great price.

And Abes of Maine. I dunno how places like these stay in business. Personally if Amazon won't price match them I generally exclude them when it comes to a purchase like this.

to add: I think samsung doesn't honor warranty in some cases if you purchase from them
