Or you can save $30 by hitting up the link in my sig for details on how to build a mirror mount using parts you probably have or $2-$3 at most. Why blow your savings on a mirror mount if you don't have to?
Running radar detectors simultaneously is a terrible way to compare. Too much interference to get an accurate comparison.
I'm not seeing the sig, not sure if I have them disabled, but if you're referring to the reflector-seat-mount (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/...r-etc.html), there are compromises. I love where that guy mounts his mute buttons though, very tasteful.
For some reason, I don't seem to find the link for building a mount which you have mentioned. Can you please post the link or enlighten me on how to access that link in your signature?
It only shows it the first time I post in each thread which has already happened in this thread a couple of pages back.
Never mind. I was able to find that link which looks great. Thanks again.
I dislike how SD displays sigs as compared to most other forums but who am I to judge?
That same information is here on this forum and can be found via the link in my signature line which can be found in my first post in this thread. Then you can add to the user's reputation here by clicking the rep # and thinking him there. I know him pretty well so I'll let him know you like the work he did for all his mute buttons.

Cobra is known to be one of the lower end brands for radar detectors.
They've been reported to leak quite a bit of radar, actually setting off detectors nearby. Not good for your fellow road warriors! Also, the detection range is almost cut in half (or even more) when comparing the two units. Plus, I've seen Cobra detectors actually report K band as KA sometimes! Absolute deal breaker right there for any real speeders.
Of course, if you don't speed, Cobra will work fine
As for myself, I've got a Valentine1. But I would definitely recommend the 8500 X50 as a stellar detector (drove with one for several years before upgrading to the V1).
thanks! do you feel the 9500xi is worth the extra $? what about the max?
I owned the 9500IX for a few months and would NOT recommend it for one reason alone - delay in the alert due to GPS processing.
I noticed that my 9500IX would always go from no alert to almost full ramp up in less than a second - causing me to slam on my brakes quite a bit (I'm a big speeder). I can only assume this is from the delay while it checks to see if the signal is in a GPS lockout location. Unacceptable for real speeders! The 8500 X50 reported the signal instantly and had great ramp up, so it was a big let down to see how poorly the 9500IX compared to it.. If you absolutely need GPS (for redlight or speed cams) then maybe the 9500IX is good for that, but if you're like me and don't have ANY redlight or speed cams in the area, then performance trumps # of features every time when it comes to detecting a signal.
And the Max has issues as well (such as poor range) so I'd avoid that until they fix it up and it gets better reviews. Right now Escort's best detector is the Redline by a longshot in my opinion. However, I still recommend V1 as the best dashmount detector (great range, arrows are key for if you are trying to get away from the police, and with the V1C you can connect it to your smartphone and lock out signals if you desire).
I gotta say these are a waste of money IMO. The only type of radar that these give any kind of significant warning is moving radar. The spread of LIDAR (laser) at 500 feet is less than 2 feet wide, which is pointed at the front license plate; too small for the radar detector to detect . With regular radar the cop sees you before he turns on the unit so you might get 1/4 of a second warning before the unit already has your speed. The other thing is with radars the spread is too big to use on freeways unless there are almost no cars, too many returns. I regularly give tickets to people with radar detectors and whenever I see them I always ask "how'd that radar detector work out for you?
For me at night this is how it breaks down on how I stop speeders:
Most places aren't as covered in LIDAR as yours is. Still a lot of Ka-band radar where I am, and these detectors are great.
I don't think experience really matters for a president. My point is that you can't really use his own words from 4 years ago against him.

Prior to adding the radar to your account, on the product page, it will allow you to choose one of the following:
Select FREE SmartCord Live
SmartCord Live - iPhone Version
SmartCord Live Direct Wire - iPhone Version
SmartCord Live - Android Version
SmartCord Live Direct Wire - Android Version
Then it should carry through checkout.
Edit: I just tried to add the smart cord live to my order and its not reflecting the $99 savings. I would give them a call. The promo is valid to 7/31.
Thanks! I actually called them and got the deal in two steps (the first time, they refused to give me the trade-in and the free SmartCord; the second time, I called Customer Service to complain, and that did the trick)
