Bank of America Privacy Assist - FULL Refund for YEARS of Service

What's up guys. This is my first Slickdeal and I hope it's considered a Slickdeal; I really felt it was.

For those of you that have Bank of America's Privacy Assist credit monitoring service, be aware that they recently had a massive lawsuit against them that is forcing them to refund $700M+ to Privacy Assist customers. Note: If you have ever had any of their other "credit monitoring" services, you should be eligible for a refund as well.

I found this out last night when I decided to cancel the service (I was looking for ways to save $10/month here and there) and Google'd for their number.

Canceling was very easy and all I did was mention that I read about a recent lawsuit filed against them and asked if I was entitled to any refund. The kind lady informed me that I would be refunded for my full 74 months of service ($12.99/month, $961.26 total refund). It hasn't hit my account yet but I was in shock.

Just some info for SD members
There are many class suits that may you have missed out on if you did not know about them.
BOA has about 4.
Some I have been compensated for: Naked Juice, Kashi Cereal, TurboTax, Honeywell, Popchips, Traders Joe's, Emergen-C....
There are 100's of others going on.
I have got checks from these as well as many free products. (Like 16 bags of Alexia French Fries)
Some suit do not require any proof of purchase, some pay out better with proof.
I am signed up with a site (I have no affiliation, they have no referral program, just info for you guys)
IMO: Just found it to be the best and they seem to stay on top of every suit going on.
Sign up and get email updates of all current class suits.
You won't regret spending the time searching the site.
There is money in them dar classy suits!

What's a good reasonably priced alternative?
If you are a member of Costco, they have a cheaper credit monitoring service Identity Guard. Monitors more than just credit.

She coulnd't go past Jan 2007 and the fee was there, I mean we couldnt even find when it began, tomorrow Im going to call and see because it would be incredible to be refunded over 5 years of those fees...

Auto Club of Southern California offers free Experian credit monitoring to members.

Only certain AAA clubs offer this so you would need to check with your local club.

CK is good, but not great.

It'll "monitor", but everything else cannot be taken too seriously honestly on that site. For example, Lexington Law just told me of a collection agency that dinged my credit this month. CK hasn't yet. Every day counts in challenging random agencies who try to extort you - even for $50 like this one is! The quicker you can go "get off my lawn and prove I owe it!" the quicker they'll run for the hills.

CK told me my credit score was like 625 when I was going to buy a car. Went to the dealership....it was 40 points less!

I can't trust CK. Maybe you can.
If credit karma told you your score was 625 then you have no business buying a car.
It is well known the credit karma score is a FAKO score, this means it is based on the actual FICO but can vary quite a bit.

In my experience the CK score is always higher than the real deal.

Its a free service, if your going to complain then dont use it.
If you want a real credit score monthly for free sign up for the Discover IT card or Wal-Mart credit card.

So you were content to just be charged $12.50 for the last 7+ years and not complain or notice?

How does one not recognize such? Might as well be burning your money.

CK is only TransUnion credit scores. There is more than one credit score so the one you got that was lower was pulled from a different one

I spend more then 3yrs with them.. I canceled about 10month ago.. Am i entitle for full 3yrs of refund?? I was get charged for 12.99 from CC on every months without getting shut service.. I'm glad im here this. HOw can i speak to them and ensure for full refund since I cancel with them about 10months ago.
I would call and tell them exactly that. You canceled a while back because you had no clue you were being charged for that service and you just read about the lawsuit that entitles you to a refund. I'm catching up with everything since these quoted posts above so bear with me!

I'm getting (or was at least told I'm getting) $961.26. That's 74 months of service, or 6 years + 2 months. So you should be entitled to the same.

I posted the number in the OP as well as a few posts down from OP.

Quote :
Conveniently repay consumers: Bank of America has completed reimbursement to consumers for the unfair billing practices relating to the identity protection products. For the credit protection products, if the consumers are still Bank of America customers, they will receive or already have received a credit to their accounts. If they are no longer a Bank of America credit card holder, they will receive or already have received a check in the mail or have charged-off balances reduced by the amount they were charged in fees. Consumers are not required to take any action to receive their credit or check.
This seems fishy; it doesn't seem like BoA are complying very well. They clearly didn't "complete" shit because I haven't received anything and had to call.

I did absolutely nothing and called no one and was recently sent a check by these people for over $800. I honestly didn't even know I had ever signed up for the service.
Big Grin

I still haven't seen a refund in my account; it's possible that I'll get a check too then.

Nice. I'm glad someone else was able to get it taken care of. It might just take a few calls because my guess is that each time you call, you'll be connected to an office in different locations, and not all of them are informed about this yet.

I tried since I had it quite some time ago. Didn't work. Oh well.
