install Navi x (and others) onto Amazon fire TV's XBMC

miller351 428 62 August 19, 2014 at 02:57 PM
I was successful in installing XBMC on my fire tv, however, I cannot find how to install navi x (or other top XBMC plugins).

The only way I know how to install Navi X is to download the zip file, but fire tv does not have a browser to do this.

Please assist

I have not tried it my self, but you could download it on to your computer and push it via adb to the internal storage (sdcard).

Since you posted about the hdhomerun also, I will say I use fire tv + xbmc running the tvguide plugin + the homerun prime and it works great (fios).

I am trying to push Navix zip file to fire tv using adb, but it is not working. I have no issues connected to the fire tv, its just when I enter "adb push <ZIP FILE NAME>" it does not work because that zip is nowhere to be found on XBMC internet/external memory areas.

you need to put a destination it should be along the lines:

adb push file.zip /sdcard/

Im sorry, I forgot to mention that I did do that (put destination file(/sdcard/Download/) and still nothing there.

What kind of response should you get in the command prompt if this was successful?

I don't remember but you can always do an:
adb shell
then CD to the directory:
CD /sdcard/Downloads
then show contents of the directory:
ls

as a note: Linux is case sensitive so /Downloads is different from /downloads
also I don't know if the fire has a /sdcard/Downloads folder. I will try it tonight and see what happens

Only downside to my setup is getting the tv listings, thankfully I have a small "server" on all the time that I share the xml file used for listings that I have update daily via cronjob.

I installed it after I installed XBMC Hub and Fusion Installer. Unfortunately I don't remember all the steps I took.

You don't need to use the browser or computer.

In xbmc. Add a download repo that has navix. I believe it was xbmchub

Jus went through this myself. Took less than 30 minutes to have be streaming a movies

Mashup is easy to install on FireTv and is just as good if not better than Navi-x. You simply put in the following url in the XBMC program in addons: http://install.mashupxbmc.com
