Yep, I just always set a Google Calendar reminder each renewal to warn me two days before the automatic billing and give them a call (after checking SD to see if there are any new specials going on laugh out loud). Just got off the phone my wife's was about to expire tomorrow. 32 seconds and done for another 5 months!
I just renewed two Sirius-branded radios (VW and Stiletto) for $25 each for 5 months. Yes Howard is included, Internet is not included. Took about 17 minutes (I'd love for it to take 32 seconds) but it's worth it. Just keep rescheduling the calendar reminder every 4.9 months. Bye for now!

I'm sick of calling them to cancel and wasting a half hour of my time for something I listened to 4 or 5 over that 5 month period. Never again will I pay for this.

I thought I was the only one who can't deal with this company. I get a invoice in the mail about every 3-4 weeks, and each one says I owe a different amount. I tried the on line chat, and was told I owe the highest amount, yea, right. I will cancel both of my subscriptions and never renew. There are better alternatives out there to listen on your car radio, and free.

Wow, I was just going through my old files, and came across some notes I happened to keep regarding calls I made to XM Radio Cust Service back in 2009.... If I recall correctly, I had extended my service via a $20 promotion, but they were billing statements differently:

5/10/2009: call #1
Called to complain about a $38.85 renewal fee that I was charged, and I informed them that I wanted to cancel my subscription. Instead, Cust service said they would send me a refund check right away, and gave me free service until 7/15 for the inconvenience.

5/20: call #2
2nd call to find out where my check is; spoke with gabrielle (em*****). She confirmed the check wasn't sent out yet, but she will ensure that it gets sent out right away.
She also provided advice regarding what to ask Cust Service when I call back to check the status of the check.
Ask rep to perform the following:
1) Go to billing profile.
2) Go to Refund section
3) Look up refund amount, and date sent.

6/1: call #3
spoke with Jerome. He didn't see evidence that a check was ever sent out. He needed to research it, and said I can expect a return call from his mgmt by 6/4. his contact number: 800-998-7900

6/9: call #4
As of 6/9, I hadn't received a call back from XM Radio. Therefore, I called Cust Svc who confirmed that the check was processed on that same day. She said check should arrive in 3 weeks, ie, 6/30.

7/1: call #5
Cust Svc (ie, Laura) informed that the Billing department decided not to send me a check despite the previous communications. Instead, they processed an adjustment to my account for $38.85 on 6/17. Furthermore, XM Radio has decided to charge me $38.85 for the "4/15 - 7/15" service period that they originally gave to me for free (on 5/10). At that point (on 7/1), I cancelled my service immediately.

I ended up contacting my credit card company for the charge that eventually showed up on my Oct statement. Initially, my credit card company refused to do anything about it...until I decided to close my credit account, too. At that point, their cancellation department processed a refund for the XM charge.

I love Sirius XM. Right now I'm in a free 3 month trial but I will try the "I want to cancel" trick after that's up. People will pay $150/month for TV/Internet/Phone and the TV channels have ads but they won't pay $15/month for commercial free streaming & car radio with hundreds of channels.
First, all the talk channels not only have commercials but some have A LOT of commercials. Less than 10 minutes between breaks. Not to mention they run those commercials into the ground.

Second, the music channels have become glorified regular FM channels. That's what happens when you hire radio people to run the same type of radio.

Third, most people don't spend as much time in their car as they do their home.

I has Sirius for 3 years then it started being glorified FM radio. I would pay $5 or 6 a month with internet access tops.

If Sirius wants to save money, stop throwing millions at figure heads like Oprah.

Well, I did the chat and got the 6 months for $24.95. (Select package which does include Stern) ($31.77 with the invoice fee, taxes, etc so I didn't have to use a credit card.)

What a sweet deal and thanks!!

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know how those Sirius XM gift cards at Best Buy work? Can I use them to pay my Sirius bill directly or do they buy a set amount of service (3 months, 6 months, etc.)?

these idiots kept calling me every day even after i told them a number of times I did not need it. Then they switched to a local number, and even after that kept calling. Ended up blocking their number. just out of principle they dont get my business. the only time i see this as remotely useful is in areas where you dont have any radio signal, and your phone, iPod, mp3 cds gave up. I would not let them get hold of my contact info.

At 5 bucks a month, who cares how often you use it. It is worth that much.

Just signed up for 6 months, $24.99 plus tax, invoice charge, etc. when my 2 month free trial ends. I specifically asked for this price, the rep said there was no promotion at this price, but "checked with his supervisor" and got it approved. No hassle, but took about 15 minutes.

Snail mail, or via rep? Any way to prove it?

I've got my renewal call coming up and $20/6 is obviously better than $20/5! nod

Not to jack the thread but if you are looking at this for your car then you may want to check out this still active post for a free 2 month trial. I've heard that you can recycle it a few times and it does not require credit card. You may need to go through the hassle of creating new accounts if you wanted to use this over and over.
