Rep? How to give it?

sdbk 197 33 January 19, 2008 at 08:05 AM
Well it may seem funny but i am not able to figure out how to rep someone. I used to think that giving thumbs up was equivalent to that but seems it is not.
Tried searching SD's faq but it mentions how to check reps, and other rules but does not answer the question "HOW".
Am sure it's something very very basic which i am not seeing...

I'm having the same problem, but it doesn't look like anyone answered your question here. Either that or they pm you. Also, i'm guessing because it's obvious like what the error message said "You do not have permission." But it would be nice it someone said that was the case for clueless ppl.
Is this happening on all users/threads that you try to rep? If so, then I'm guessing it's maybe because you're a brand new user. New user's privileges are limited a bit at first, and I believe that this is one of those limitations. But it usually doesn't last very long Smilie (see the New User Guide / SD FAQ Mega Thread that's stickied at the top of this forum for more new user info and tips.)

If this is not happening on all threads/posts that you try to rep, but only on a few, and you can rep on others, then it could be a glitch somewhere.

I think you have to have 10 posts to be able to rep! I was able to rep after 10 posts. Maybe it was after being a member for X number of days though? I am not certain. Hope that helps a little!

yeah, I'm thinking because i'm a new registered member, but i've been around, just lazy to sign up. Anyways, i can't rep. in any forum. I'm getting my post up so i can see if it's the amount of post, or the number of days. Thx for all the help widgit and jennyleeg.

I'm not sure of the exact limits, but brand new users can't rep, so it's working as intended at the moment Smilie

I'm getting the same error page when I try to rep.

Did anyone find a solution to this?

You see how you have that green box with the number next to it by your user info? On someone elses you would click it and a pop up should appear allowing you to grant many wishes along with a note as to why you deem that person worthy. Big Grin

Or click here for a tutorial. Big Grin

I have no permission to give rep, I have no idea why? There are so many rules to act on SDFrown

OK. I see. I have to have 50 posts then I can actually rep someone. Now I rep someone, he only see the comments. But will he get a increase when I reach 50 posts, or will he never see any increase of this rep.

Dumb question, but can I edit a rep I gave? I was in the middle of typing out a sentence and my hand slipped and I pressed enter and now I can't re-rep him....I mean, I'm super new so I guess it wouldn't count for much anyway, but I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it.

Thanks!

No, unfortunately you cannot edit rep messages once sent Smilie
