Just in time for the busy holiday selling season, all sellers can now enjoy the best available USPS commercial shipping rates. From November 1- December 31, you can now enjoy the deepest USPS discounts on domestic Priority and Priority Express shipping when you use eBay labels. You can save an average of 30% on domestic Priority Mail services when you use eBay labels. Exact savings will depend on the weight of your item and how far it's being shipped.

This promotion lets you ship Priority & Priority Express at the Commercial Plus rate instead of the Commercial Base rate that you normally get through eBay labels or PayPal. Both are lower than the retail rate.

Here's the USPS price list. [usps.gov] If you click the Priority link in the table of contents under commercial prices it will take you to the Commercial Base table; scroll down for to the next table for the Plus rates.

This is good only through eBay labels and not PayPal.
Seems the bigger discounts are for heavier items and only priority services. I am guessing that "vs. retail rates" may mean they are comparing vs. what you would pay at the counter at a post office not on USPS web site??

Im kind of curious what the downside is? What am I missing out on by using eBay labels?

Or are you referring to simply being unable to use the discount on anything that isnt an eBay sale?

same question.

does the ebay/usps process have limited services and jacked up rates to begin with?

Their rates are definitely NOT jacked up. It costs much less to use Delivery Confirmation on a USPS package thru Ebay than it would going into the post office.

As far as I can tell eBay has the same services as your post office + it already offered a ~10% discount. They simply increased the discount from ~10% to ~30%, that's what this is all about.

Are they overpriced ? Probably Smilie. Large companies generally have ~70%+ discounts vs retail on shipping rates.
