Discover Card Price Protection Process

OK folks, I did not find a thread regarding Discover Price Protection...and since I am in the process now from the Best Buy BF deal (I got the Panny 50"), I can tell you exactly what they are looking for...only one part can take time, so WATCH YOUR STATEMENT PROCESSING DATE!

They of course want a copy of the receipt..no problem...

They want a copy of the sale ad or verified price on company stationary with management signed..they will accept screen shots in many cases, like the Best Buy ad online.

The kicker...they want a copy of the ACTUAL DISCOVER STATEMENT that shows your name, credit card number (they ask me for all 16, I called Discover and they only show last 4 even on statement, so Discover called them and they said the last 4 numbers is fine..but it MUST show the last 4 numbers) and the transaction.

So they already have mine processed EXCEPT the copy of the ACTUAL STATEMENT, which mine cycles on the 24th, and its suppose to be available within 48 hours.

There is NO PROBLEM with them matching Black Friday prices! So I get the 50" Panny for the $199 BF price but YOU PAY FULL TAX..they DO NOT REFUND TAX DIFFERENCE. But that is a very small price to pay getting such a deal and not having to camp out and wait in lines and battle the crowds.

Bottom line for me..a new Panasonic 50" LCD HDTV for $244 and change after tax and CA recycle fee.

Hope this helps some people with this issue! Wink

Thanks for the info! I have the TV sitting in the box in my front room, waiting to submit the info. When I talked to the price protection dept they said that I do not need to wait for the statement to cycle, but you can select the transaction and click on it and print that screen (there is a print transaction button). It shows all of the buyer info at the top of the page including the last four, then shows the trans info. I think it should be sufficient according to the rep. I am just waiting for mine to get out of pending to add my discover info.

I guess I'm confused. How can they give price protection on a deal that isn't even alive yet?

Thanks for the information.

I am new to the discover price protection though I have heard it for already two years.

So does the signed copy of sale ad really necessary?

Also, do you really need to buy the stuff from best buy to get the price protection? Has anyone tried buying from other retailers and still get adjustment from Discover?

As many thanksgiving deals are B&M only, can we buy it now online and still get the price protection?

They don't match stores that require a membership to buy from.

So I don't have to wait until BF to submit claim?

What screen shot or ad did you submit? Did you go out and get the managers signature?

This seems insane. I could buy a TV at a vendor with Shop Discover so I could get 10-15% CB then price match to a vendor that doesn't have SD, but has a lower price plus get the CB on the higher price TV?

For example buy this TV at 550 w/ 15% CB = 75ish dollars. Then PM to 199 for this deal and get back 350 so the TV costs about 125?

Hopefully this will help settle a little confusion here. FIRST, some seem to have missed the "OR" statement part of needing the sale ad. You DO NOT need to have it signed by management...that is ONLY if there is no "sale ad" to produce for the PM.

I used the screen shot DIRECTLY FROM THE BEST BUY SITE in my case. Notice the first screen shot clearly shows the date of the sale, the second shows the specifics of the TV, including the model. They do except screen shots from the big companies they can easily verify.

I hope this clears that matter up...remember to read the posts carefully...like where I stated the "OR".
