Bestbuy currently is selling the Samsung Galaxy S3 for Sprint prepaid service for only $79.99 for its elite and elite plus members.

The price in the link below shows $199.99, but changes to $79.99 once you log into your account and use promo code ''GALAXYDEAL' during checkout.. Did not see a brand new S3 for this price anywhere.

Can someone throw some light on if it can be used with Sprint MVNOs like Ringplus or Freedompop? Also conflicting info on the LTE option. Bestbuy and some other places says it is LTE capable but some sites just say 4G.

I think $79.99 is a good price if we can use with ringplus or freedompop. Please pitch in your inputs on the deal and usability with freedompop or ringplus. TIA.

Price reflected in cart after applying discount code - GALAXYDEAL

The S3 is the L710T, which means it's the newer triband version. It's locked to Sprint prepaid only until at least May 30, 2015 [prepaidphonenews.com]. You won't be able to buy it and use it on any Sprint MVNOs now, including Ringplus or Freedompop, unless you have a donor phone.

I currently have one of these, bought almost 2 weeks ago from Best Buy, and neither Ringplus, Ting, or Freedompop will activate it.
Freedompop says "Snap" etc., Ting says to refer to their currently allowed list, and Ringplus says that phone is blacklisted from being on Sprint's MVNOs.

Sprint/Virgin Mobile info:
When I try to activate with Virgin Mobile on their site [virginmobileusa.com], it told me
Quote :
There was a problem with the MEID/ESN you provided. Double-check it was entered correctly and try again. If you need help finding the MEID/ESN for the device you are attempting to activate, use our help guide on the right. Otherwise, please call Customer Care at 1-888-322-1122
In the meantime, Sprint's prepaid site [sprint.com] gave me no trouble, so it looks like Sprint prepaid only, not VM, and no MVNOs?

Note: I didn't go through it completely, only got to "Phone Serial Number" and checked if the phone can get past that point.
