Some Notes regarding the spec:
1. CPU: Z3745 is one of the top end CPUs used in 2014 generation of 7" or 8" tablets (Android or Windows). Z3745 is weaker than Nvidia K1 (used in 8" Nvidia Shield Tablet), but competitive against or superior to all other CPUs currently used in 8" Android tablets.

2: Speakers: If you don't want to rely entirely on your headphones, you will need a pair of quality front-facing stereo speakers to watch movies on your tablet. The only other 7" or 8" tablets (Android, Windows, or iOS) that offer quality front-facing speakers are: Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8" (Android); Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8" (Windows), and Nvidia Shield Tablet.

3. Support for microSD: For best storage options, you should only buy tablets that support microSDXC (for 64GB, 128GB, and upcoming 256GB, 512GB cards that conform to microSDXC standard). Don't buy tablets that don't support microSD (including all iPads, and all Nexus tablets), and tablets that only support microSDHC (up to 32GB) (such as many of the 2014 Acer tablets).

4. Camera: The rear-camera on this tablet is 8 MP, with auto focus and flash, capable of 1080p video recording. A typical on-tablet rear-camera in this price range is 5MP, with no flash, only capable of 720p video recording.

8" Tablet vs 7" Tablet:
8" tablets are almost as compact as 7" tablets, but that extra inch of screen size has a dramatic impact on dealing with text intensive tasks, especially if you intend to use your tablet for reading ebooks. If you only read Kindle books and NOOK books, you can do that very well on a 7" screen. But if you want to read "real" books (in pdf format, from major publishers), you will immediately recognize how meaningfully larger that an 8" screen is. Since an 8" screen is so meaningfully and usefully larger than a 7" screen, 8" tablet has a special place in our heart as tablet users.

Better add the movers coupon in the title. It's very deceptive. Because best buy has the tablet on sale for $149.99 not $129 and not everyone has the citi card.

I might have gotten this if hadn't already purchased acer 840 fhd tablet with same specs. This one is better for the audio speaker arrangement and dolby sound quality and lighter in weight and back camera is 8mp better than most other budget tablets.

So good find even at $150 for those that are looking for very good specs budget priced android 8inch tablet.

Another tablet worth considering is Dell venu 8 with 1200p screen@amazon for $130+FS (but it lacks GPS-which is why I ruled it out. Also not quite as fast due to 1gb ram & dual core cpu, and feedback reports freezes.

The biggest weakness that Acer and Lenovo share is short battery life. People complain of 3.5 to 5 hrs operation (which is 3-4 hrs less than the asus tablets); fortunately it only takes 3 to 5 hrs to charge back up. Playing preloaded videos from memory in airplane mode will last 7hrs since no wifi prevents apps from constantly trying to update, and also if screen brightness is set to the lowest setting.

I purchased the Acer this week@amazon since it was $140+FS & had a microHDMI & slightly better graphic benchmarks. The Lenovo lacks hdmi while Acer only has 5mp camera, but both tablets are closest to each other with all the other same specs. Neither tablet is perfect but they're the best budget tablets (around $150 or less) with 1200p screen + having similar specs as the Asus memo tablets. So the Acer, Lenovo, & Dell are all direct competitors to the Asus memopad 8--(all good choices with different pros & cons). I hope this deal is still around for another week so I can compare & decide whether to keep the Acer over the Lenovo.

Appreciate the advice. I ended up going to the post office, getting the 10% coupon then going to bestbuy & it worked! So $145

Not too shabby

The Dolby speakers were a HUGE draw for me as I listen to music without speakers often, same for video.

OfficeDepot (OfficeMax) online only carries much lower spec-ed Lenovo A8-50, not Lenovo S8-50. Those are two totally different tablets. (OfficeDepot doesn't carry any of the current generation tablet models from Lenovo.)

Lenovo A8-50 is currently listed @$139.99 on OfficeDepot. Lenovo A8-50 (2013, with Android 4.2) is one generation older than S8-50 (2014, with Android 4.4).

The spec for Lenovo A8-50 (vs Lenovo S8-50):
CPU: MTK 8121 (vs Intel Z3745)
RAM: 1 GB (vs 2GB)
screen: IPS HD 1280x800 (vs IPS FHD 1920x1200)
speakers: one front speaker (vs two front-facing stereo speakers)
microSD support: microSDHC (up to 32 GB) (vs microSDXC for 64GB, 128GB, etc)

For $145 (including tax), you have bought one of the best 8" tablets in the market for 2014. For the price point of $150, Lenovo S8-50 is the best 8" tablet.

Why no love for this deal? Looks pretty solid?

Seriously debating it to replace my sero 7 pro which I gifted to my brother, only to have my ancient nook color (which I was hoping to hold me over as an ereader strictly until I find my next 7" class tablet) break 3 days later. My uses will primarily be e-reader and browsing, but also may use it as a field companion to my new 70D.

MicroSD card is a must, HDMI would have been a bonus, but not required. I am more for getting a tablet that is usable at a lower price and treating it as expendable than paying $200+ for something I want to take to the beach and enjoy myself without having to worry about it.

Will most likely stop by a best buy to give it a test-drive. A little worried about the 8 vs. 7 (I was perfectly fine with the sero's screen size and do not need a 'larger' tablet), battery life and overall build quality (from some of the reviews).

I unfortunately also cannot seem to find a 10% best buy coupon at the post office. Is it in the 'mover's pack'? If so, I guess my post office has a different version of the 'mover's pack'? Is it typical that they have multiple versions? $15 will not break me but if I can save 10%, I will.

lol, ditto back to you...but hey maybe your A8 will be fine for your needs.
But If it isn't then I'd return that and get this one (even if you have to pay restocking fee).
The only negatives are less than avg battery life, hard to find exact fitting case, but otherwise maybe the best "budget priced tablet" out there.

The closest tablets to this are Asus - ME572 7inch & Acer iconia A1-840FHD both having same high rez screens + 2gb ram. Imo, this is the best budget tablet while Acer & Asus are close 2nd&3rd.

(pay much more for even higher rez screen eg. Samsung Galaxy s 8.4 & Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4)
