Edit: This deal is not available online and price in store at OM/OD is currently 199.99. Must have physical advertisement (readily available in front of OD/OM) in order to receive price match. For those that received the wrong router during the Wal-Mart sale, Wal-Mart is currently offering a $30 gift card with purchase of this router. Reports of success getting $99 PM + $30 gift card. No need to mention the $30 gift card when attempting price match as system will instruct cashier to give card automatically.
Edit: Saturday, January 3rd is the final day this Office Depot / Office Max ad will be valid. Price matches confirmed at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Staples but of course manager's discretion so YMMV.
For those looking for a stable firmware version see posts 749-755.
How I got it for $99+tax and the $30 gift card
I figured I could explain how it worked for me.
Things you will need:
The PHYSICAL ad from the office depot circular (I got mine in the newspaper). BRING THE WHOLE THING. (reason being is that my particular store needed to make sure it was active/current). You can't use the print out from the first page
DON'T ASK FOR THE GIFT CARD. (I think people are failing because the manager/cashier think you are asking for the $10 gift card that is advertised. You will AUTOMATICALLY get a $30 when you checkout)
Common sense and being polite
Grabbed router, showed an assistant manager the ad (before going up) and he said "Oh we don't price match with Office Depot".
I said okay, thank you for your time and walked out.
Went to a different Walmart 15 minutes away, grabbed the router and tried to check out in the electronic department. Waited for the cashier to get a manager. Ended with them saying "We don't price match because of the gift card"
Went into Bestbuy, grabbed router, showed the the ad, walked out with it for $99+tax. Took almost 5 minutes max.
Decided to try Walmart again (since Bestbuy is in the same complex). I walk in, grab the router, go directly to the cashier in the front. I hand it to him with the ad (I only brought that one page). Manager comes over, spends maybe 10 minutes combing over the ad and says "I just need to verify this is the right week". So I say I will come back with the full circular.
Same thing again. I get the full circular. Looked over it again for about 10 minutes. Finally gives the cashier the okay and he puts it in for $99. The shopcard/gift card AUTOMATICALLY comes up (you don't have to ask for it). After another 5 minutes, I walked out with the router and a $30 gift card. (Returned other router to bestbuy)
EDIT: YMMV on the $30 card at WM. The manager who did the override for mine told the cashier it was either OM's deaal, or WM's, ut can't have both. When the receipt printed, the cashier cut off the free shopping card part at the bottom. This was at the WM at Superstition Springs.
Alternate firmware for Advanced Users
This router supports both Tomato firmware and DD-WRT firmware. This may be useful for certain power users. DO NOT flash to these firmwares unless you want improved performance and more router options over stock, and if you are not an advanced user! Also do your research!
