Been somewhat in the market for a white noise machine for the kids' rooms. I have been randomly checking amazon and usually see them for about $30. When I checked today I saw that the #1 best seller in the noise machines category was half the cost. So I picked up 2 with prime shipping.

Hope this helps someone else. I looked through the threads for white noise machines before I checked amazon and didn't see anything IMO that was worth buying. This is an inexpensive way to get one and if you don't like it, you have amazon's return policy.

Video review of product definitely louder than some reviewers say.

WARNING: this guy in the video is a Yankee fan, so take what he says with a grain of salt.

I absolutely love these things, and typically they are like $30-$40 for some reason! They are fantastic at drowning out background noises so you can disengage and relax. When I'm not able to use one I have a soundtrack I downloaded from Amazon that I loop and play on a bluetooth speaker.

* My mah and grandma had them, and when I hear the smooth hum it instantly gives me a level of calmness like a kid in their parents room during a thunderstorm. I dunno...some level of emotional association I suppose...I love em Smilie

THANKS FOR THE POST OP!

I am a big fan of white noise and we have one in our son's room. As a true slickdealer though, I would have to point out that you can download many apps (some free but I recommend Sleep Cycle for $1) that do the same thing. Most of us sleep with our phones on our nightstands anyways. Just make sure you plug them in or else your phone will be dead in the morning.

I find the apps just don't compare to my box fan. but I'd love something that does a better job and doesn't draw as much power.

Better than the marpac: LectroFan. Pretty much never on sale, $50. Love it. Runs off USB. No moving parts.

Picked one up as a backup for my daughter's marpac. We originally got that marpac for like 60 bucks at Bed Bath and Beyond since she didn't like lullabies and we didn't want to put a box fan in her room.

She loves it. Hopefully this one is just as good if that marpac dies along the way.

I'm using this free noise generator instead mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/rainNoiseGenerator.php Powered with the BT speaker from Sears and I'm golden.

I love these things, got this same one a couple of years ago for $44 (and that was a lightning deal price, I believe). I'm big on just using a cheap box fan as well to get the perfect white noise, but the little sound machine is more portable AND doesn't chill the room further in winter. This is the closest thing to a box fan sound I've found without using an actual box fan. I have no idea if the cheaper model in the op is as good.

Love it, "Natural White Noise". Glad it's not artificial. Only wish it was "organic white noise"
