I tried out one of these and I have to say the technology is really not ready yet. The doorbells themselves are huge and I found it be unreliable with choppy video when it did work. I'll give it another year

BTW the $15 off coupon code is AFF625. With tax it came out to $200.26. Used Shopdiscover to get 15%.

I'm interested to see how SDers like this thing. I was debating between this and the skybell and ended up going with skybell as BB had it and I had GCs. I'm very happy with the skybell, they update the app and doorbell firmware very regularly and it has been extremely reliable. However, Ring has what appears to be much better constructed hardware and supposedly the video is better (skybells is pretty awful, but good enough to see who's at the door).

I've been waiting for the Doorbot to work out its issues because I love the concept and need a doorbell. It appears from the reviews on the Brookstone website that the Ring is from the makers of Doorbot and the Ring is supposedly the new and improved version of the Doorbot. There are several poor reviews of it in Dec and Jan, then magically on Feb 4th & 5th there are numerous 5 star, glowing reviews. Looks fishy.

I'd love to get one if it really works but I'm skeptical based on the reviews (particularly if the company had to fabricate positive reviews). Any actual users out there with real feedback?

Can see techcrunch article at http://techcrunch.com/2015/01/22/...ll-review/. Read the comments of some users, get some mixed results (happy and angry) Smilie.

Replying to my own post...a friend of mine has a Ring and says it works great so I think I'll give it a try since I have some GCs to Brookstone. Worst case scenario is I'll return it if it doesn't work well. Thanks for the heads up OP.

I'm curious to know how well these Ring doorbells work. I've read a few reviews here and there and came up with the conculsion that they're not ready yet. I'll wait a few years before I get my hands on one, just to make sure all the techy issues are dealt with by then. For now I'm looking at some at http://doorbellhome.org

The skybell is great. You're only checking for 10 seconds who's at your door so the video quality is fine. It's not like you really need it in HD 1080p widescreen or something
