SVS has this sub in stock again. It appears to be new, not refurbished or scratch/dent. It doesn't really matter anyway. I bought one a few months ago and it's a great sub. Just grabbed one more for a dual-sub setup.

Got an email about their final shipment of these subwoofers for presidents day sale at $469.99.

That said, I just ordered the SB1000 and should be getting it today. Anyone have thoughts about which is better?

I went with the SB12 because its amp is more powerful. This is my first "real" sub. It's been wonderful. So much better than those cheap subs I've had over the year. Just got another one to make it dual-sub set up.

Can't compare how they sound sitting next to each other because I don't have the SB1000.

The SB12-NSD is a great woofer, I used to have two in my room.

Dual subs are a pain to setup just a heads up. Get a mic setup, to figure out the appropriate location, ideal is dead center front of room, dead center rear of room.

I had good luck right next to the front Right and Left speakers.

You just have to make sure one doesn't cancel the other one. If your receiver has Audyssey Sub EQ it will figure out the phases to work properly.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll play with them to see how it goes.

Ported subs can play louder but they are also a lot larger. I thought about getting one but a large box wouldn't fit well in my room. That's why I thought the SB12 was a good balance. Enough power to fill the room but small enough to fit in.

Also, in theory, the sealed design of the sub on sale SHOULD sound 'tighter' than a similarly priced and sized ported model.

Very broadly, a sealed sub in this approx. price range will not go as deep as a ported sub, but as mentioned, they are usually smaller, and more "musical" than a similarly priced sub here. Probably also has a much smoother response curve than a ported at this price point.

Bottom line, this would be a GREAT sub for an enclosed, smaller room, used primarily for music.

Just from research and anecdotes, SVS makes top notch stuff from their lowest end all the way up.

Thanks for post, just picked one up.

Hopefully this will be enough volume for my room. (approx. 14' X 20' X 8' high)

SVS website recommended the PB-2000 paired with my front speakers (Klipsch KG3s), but I just don't wanna spend more than $500.

I'm not gonna rock-out much, most of my listening is at moderate levels. (TV, movies & video games)

I figure with the free to & back shipping, I don't lose anything for trying it out.

How does this compare to Sunfire True Subwoofer EQ 12 Signature - TS-EQ12?

Link: http://www.sunfire.com/productdetail.asp?id=8

There is a used rosewood-finish (matches rest of my speakers) one available for sale locally for $800 - looks to be great condition. I do realize the posting sub is half the price but is the Sunfire "twice" as good, if that? Thanks.

I think it should be able to fill your room without problem. My living room is a little smaller than your room but it's open to the kitchen and dinning room so overall it's a little larger. I set volume on the sub at around 11 AM and my receiver automatically calibrates it down another -5 or -6.

SVS outlet has the SB-12-NSD for $469 with free shipping. These are now discontinued so am guessing they are clearing stock

This is a sealed subwoofer so compact and not as powerful as the ported PB series.

For TV, movies and games, in your size room, you really should have got a ported sub. The sealed SB12-NSD probably isn't going to impress you for what you use it for and what size space you have.
