I do wonder if all X205TA's are made the same though regarding battery. The MS deal a few days ago claimed it's 2 cell gets 12 hours of battery life. This Staples model claims it's 2 cell only gets 8 hours. Everything else hardware-wise is identical. I wonder if there truly is a 4 hour difference in battery out of identical hardware or Staples specs are wrong?

Would be all over this if the screen was bigger. Looking for a laptop for an older couple, and think the 11 inch screen is too small. Thanks anyways OP

Typing this on my x205TA right now. I have yet fully test the battery but I can tell you that this laptop for $150 is a steal! I typically only charge this on average once a week, I use it for an ~1- 2 hours a night and the rest of the time it sits on standby. Only thing I don't really like about this is the touch pad is integrated with the buttons so it's hard to click and drag or click and scroll. There is some sort of short cut in mozilla that makes it zoom in and out so that is somewhat annoying but nothing that can't be fixed by an external mouse.

Trying to understand why people think this is a good computer - it has 32GB Flash storage, that's all. Basically enough for Windows 8.1 and some apps. You can't really install a whole bunch of desktop applications, and will surely need to have external storage to keep your documents, photos, videos, etc. This seems like a tablet with a larger screen and keyboard...good for kids, is that it?

not everybody needs all kinds of desktop apps, and some people don't like tablets so this is a good compromise for light users

I bought this from MS a couple of days ago. I was looking for something I could carry in my purse for writing and playing Hearthstone, and that's all. This laptop should be perfect for my needs. I have a desktop at home where I can run more intensive applications.

If an internal DVD drive or large amount of storage is what someone in particular needs of course it's a pass on this one. I have been using one for the past 3 months & it's quick, speakers are loud/clear, it's made from durable materials (rubberized coating), the keyboard is great to type on, battery lasts forever (literally 10 hours no matter what), it is very lightweight & compact & runs everything I've thrown at it with full Windows 8.1 (smokes Windows 7 Starter!). I can't see myself what is not to like. I don't need a DVD drive & have my storage saved to flash drives & MicroSD cards. This is my favorite computer I've ever owned in 15 years & that list includes Sony, Fujitsu, HPs, Dells, Compaq, Acer, etc. The combination of price vs what you get is incredible with this ASUS. Looks like Best Buy & Amazon direct doesn't carry it anymore & maybe Microsoft & Staples probably won't now either. They must make this model "disappear" because it is that good & jeopardizing higher cost "budget" laptops!
