Went to my local Home Depot and noticed they had the Ego 56 volt Cordless Electric lawn mower on sale.

It appears that it had been on sale since the middle of January

I also noticed it was on sale in a store 35 miles away as well.

I have been looking at this mower for a long time, as far as I can tell it has NEVER been on sale, at least at my local store (65202).

Again you will have to go to your store to verify the price.

In the OPs defense, over the summer I asked if they sold well and the customer service reps said they sell well and typically get gas ones returned due to performance, all dirty. They havent seen an electric one returned.

*Reps pointed at a weed wacker all grassy and scuffed up. Returned by customer because it chewed through the recommended wire toooooooooo quick* HD Returns stuff based on that -

They had the leaf blower on sale as well for 148. I was hoping to pick up the trimmer, but not on sale.

Nice, someone else in Columbia using an electric mower. I was at Home Depot this morning but didn't think to look at mowers even though I have been watching the price as well for a while…might have to go back as I always feel people are looking at me weird when I am mowing with my corded Greenworks.

Saw this at my local HD too. But a gas mower isn't much more (~$60). Why not just get gas?

What kind of question is that? People don't buy electric because they're cheaper...

This is actually a really excellent battery operated mower. It charges the battery within a half hour, so even if it takes more than 1 charge to get your lawn done, you'll only have a half hour of downtime between charges. Picking up a string trimmer, blower, or hedge trimmer kit with a second battery will almost let you run it continuously (they do come with a smaller battery though). This is the most powerful battery mower I have used, it cuts noticeably better than a couple of 40v versions I have tested. It's biggest downside is that it has a circuit overload protection built in, so if you really tax it, the mower will shut off for a few seconds to cool off.

The biggest disadvantage to this mower is price, at $500 you could buy a pretty nice gas mower. Of course, most people look at these mowers to get away from gas, so that may not always be a factor, but electric corded mowers are often way cheaper. At $398, it's definitely more palatable, and yes, this is the first sale on this mower that I've seen as well. Also, worth mentioning that it has a 5 year warranty on the mower, and I believe a 3 year warranty on the battery.

I like the premiss, though 62 lbs is to heavy to push up hills.

Might jump on this, although want an 80v mower just released?

No heavier than a walk behind gas mower with the same features.

I think they just accidentally replied to you instead of the previous poster who was commenting on weight.

Yes, an 80v was recently announced, by Greenworks?

Agreed, I'm still preferring gas mowers, but a honda walk behind non-propelled is 63lbs. Pretty normal weight on this unit.

Great mower. YMMV but I got my local HD to accept a 20% harbor freight coupon when I got mine.
