In the past couple of days a couple of tool box items have hit $xx.03 status! NOTE: $xx.03 items do not drop to penny status. Rather, after awhile they just get marked "RTV" (return to vendor). Only $xx.02 items will drop to penny status after a few weeks.

Most HD stores have the Tool Cabinet (with wheels) ringing up at $30.03., even when the shelf price still indicates $90.06. So don't get fooled by the shelf tag. Use the in-store computer terminal or the self-checkout line to confirm real price at your store. AND DON'T FORGET TO LOOK UP IN THE RAFTERS. One store I know had ZERO tool boxes on the floor. None whatsoever. But their in-store computer said they had 26 units in stock! In the rafters there were multiple pallets of them still wrapped in cellophane! Remember, you want SKU 794770 which is the clearance box. There is an almost identical box with a longer SKU which is still full price.

Same goes for the top tool chest. Many stores have it either listed at $60.06 or even at full price. But the real price is $20.03

Husky 27 Inch 4-Drawer Tool Cabinet

SKU: 794770
Price: $30.03
For reference:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-.../203270273

(EDIT:
I read on another forum that the rolling tool cabinet has two different SKU numbers. Both sku numbers discounted to $30.03

If the first sku given doesn't work, try this sku: 356-231)

Husky 26 Inch 4-Drawer Tool Chest

SKU: 794768
Price 20.03
For reference:

Another tip: if your store insists on selling at the higher $xx.06 price, you have three options:

1.
Just buy it at that price and do a return/rebuy when your store finally marks it down to the $xx.03 price.

2.
Or, you can take your receipt to a different HD that already has the item at $xx.03 price in their computer system and do a return/rebuy there. It works even if the second HD store no longer has the item in stock.

3.
Finally, you can try to get a price match by showing the receipt scans I have posted for you.

EAST COAST REGIONS, search for this SKU: 356231. Western Regions, search for this SKU: 794770. They are identical cabinets, just different sku depending on region.

For the tool chest, East Coast regions use 355769.

Do not always trust the HD associate or customer service rep to give you an accurate inventory status of any item. I have personally experienced many associates will simply look on the public HD website. And of course any HD clearance item will show discontinued/"not in stock"

Instead, you should use the in-store terminal yourself. It's much more accurate, but not 100% accurate. Instructions here:

I was looking at tool chests and this barely came through. I've never tried to price match these YMMV deals. How successful are people doing it?

I believe these are two of the three parts i bought during Christmas 2014 sales for $168. (Third piece was a two drawer middle which was "valued" at $50).
It was a decent deal at that price.

At $50, even without the middle piece it is a screaming deal. Great find. It will be YMMV at finding it, and out being this price, but it is well with the effort to look, for a casual tool chest set!

You need to check the instore terminals for true inventory/price. Online HD website will not show it.

Good price on these Husky boxes. I believe these silver / black models are being replaced by a sturdier all black model. They are similar in appearance but different in construction.

I have both in stock at my store, but they wouldn't honor the price on the receipt without the store I.D number or the barcode.

can you please upload pics without the details blurred..

PM me if you want to receipt scans not blurred out.

Don;t depend on a store associate to even know how to check their own computer inventory system. Lots of times they just check the regular website which of course shows discontinued/out of stock That happened to me many times before I just started using their in-store terminals myself. The more accurate way to check is to click on the "price check" icon. You need to do your own legwork to get this deal.
