Wow, various sized crank included. this is a full grouppo! Good deal for anyone looking to build or upgrade their road bike!

Only item of note for upgraders is that the 11-speed cassette may not fit your rear wheel...

Nice! Looks like it's finally dropped below $600. Last time I checked it was in the $650s range.

Nice deal! Repped. The only caviat is the cassette, as 11-18 (crap) or 11-25 are not the best ones. I usually ride on 11-28 for climbing.
As for Merlin Cycles - it's a great store. I recently ordered tires from them and was a little suspicious since they are based out of UK. Shipping to California took 7 business days (10 days total). The deal I got on Gatorskins was 30% cheaper than here in the states.

TU for bike parts deal Smilie. Lowest I've seen for this previously is $583 from Ribble. These groupset prices from the UK stores are really pretty unbelievable.

It is 11-28. I don't think Shimano makes 11-18. Gear choice is kind of tricky because you have to take into account both the chain rings and cassette, as well as your personal riding style and terrain. I like this site: http://www.gear-calculator.com/ for comparing setups.

I've read that the 105s are a better value with the latest generation. Any truth to that?

You can always pay the extra $1000 Campy tax if looks are that important. Good price at $550 - I got the 5800 groupset from Merlin two months ago and it's been great - front shifting is amazing. And shipping was crazy fast from England - I got it in 3 days.

I think 105 is always a better value, but it is true that the latest 105 (5800) moved to 11 speed like the Ultegra this year. From the same site the OEM 105 groupset is $378, so you save about $175. Measured weights show the Ultegra to be about 200 grams lighter than 105. That's probably the biggest difference, otherwise fit, finish, and feel should probably be slightly better on the Ultegra and maybe a little more durable. Whether that's worth $175 is up to the individual.

Disclaimer: I've only ridden the Ultegra, just going off what I have read about the 105.

Out of curiosity, did you get hit with any customs or brokerage fees?
