My first deal post so go easy on me..

Lowes is offering a $250 rebate in the form of a Lowes gift card on John Deere riding lawn mowers when purchased between May 12th and May 27th. Click the "PLUS, $250 in Rebates" link.

I've been watching the D130 specifically for a couple months now and this is the first deal I've noticed.

I'm planning to use a 10% movers coupon and also take advantage of the $250 rebate. Am I missing anything ?

Thanks !

john deeres sold at big box stores are not the same as real john deeres sold at JD dealerships. the ones from big box stores have had so many corners cut they are no better than any other mass market brand,

Well, that's the difference between the D series and X series. My local JD dealer says the D series they sell are the same as the D series that HD sells.

He wants the sales though, and will match any price from my local HD. But he says the D series are pretty weak compared to the X series

Doesnt seem too bad especially if you have some discounted gift cards on top of the discounts listed in OP.

check the movers coupon--at onetime they said that the weren't eligible for john deeres--im not trying to rain on your parade but I don't want you to get your hopes up if it doesn't apply

we've owned jd s for 30 years now--pretty dependable, but when you need servicing or repair be prepared to pay through the nose--right now its going to cost me 200 dollars to have the drive belt replaced, 35.00 for the belt 50.00 for pickup and 115 for labor--on top of that its going to take 2 weeks to get it back--practically speaking I be better off to buying a new craftsman every year at the end of the season, and selling the old one, but then again I wouldn't have a jd like everyone else in the neighborhood

wow, you are being ripped off. find a new mechanic. I paid less than $100 for all of that, including pickup.

So a D130 model at Lowe's is different than the D130 model at the dealer? I googled and didn't see any convincing evidence of this.
I found this on John Deere's site which seems to state the contrary ?

Or did you mean the dealer's just carry higher end models which I can't afford anyway.

allow me to clarify. the D series is a low end product that has been cost cut as much as possible (so much so, that the only difference between it and a troy-bilt (for example) is the green paint color. u can buy these at any big box store or some JD dealerships. the only reason some JD dealerships carry these is so they won't lose all of the sales to big box stores.

the X series are where real JD equipment starts. they are better built in every aspect. for comparison a D series weighs about 393 pounds, while an X series weighs 556 pounds,

Thanks OP, I just bought one last week with the free dump cart. It suppose to be delivered Friday, just ran over to Lowe's to cancel that order and do it over for the 250 GC. I much rather have the GC then the dump cart.

At least i think i do....

I would love to get an X300 but it's out of my price range. So if my budget is <2000, I should just look for a troy-bilt with similar specs as the JD D130?

buy a used X300, should be in the $2000-2500 price range. it will easily outlast / outperform any D series JD or other Craftsman/Troy-Bilt etc, that cost $2,000. warranty on an X series is 4 years (2 years on a D series)

its the local authorized jd dealer--checked with another a little farther out, got the same thing--they actually take the price wright out of a manual that tells them how labor will be involved, price of the part ect
