I really like to get the daylight bulbs but the shape just does not look like something I want to put into my light fixtures in my house.

I've noticed the prices dropping this year considerably for LED bulbs and think by Black Friday 2015 that LED bulbs will be .99 cents at most retailers.

Interesting looking bulb. I'll check them out next time I'm at Home Depot.

I picked up a 3-pack of the Philips slim 60W dimmable for $5 at HD yesterday (YMMV w/subsidies):

The dimmable are $19.97 for me, the other ones are OOS:

I like how the hippies say we won't need middle eastern oil anymore once everyone starts using LED bulbs but if you notice, companies aren't building LED bulbs that last as long as they could. Early on bulbs would last 20,000 hrs or more and now most have a lifespan of 10,000 hrs. You think light bulb companies want to put themselves out of business by offering a lifetime bulb that never needs replacing? That said, prices are coming down which makes them more economical but hopefully they don't end up as bad as the CFLs I'm now throwing in the garbage weekly because they suck.

I am trying to understand Non-dimmable thing. It has been mentioned so many times here.
How common to have dimmable switches (small slider to adjust the light) in homes. We have some dimmable switches connected to fans and some connected to light in media room.
Is it very desirable feature. Am I missing something.

Are these compatible with chandeliers. We have two old style iron chandeliers with soft white incandescent bulbs. I am looking for daylight type of bulbs (cfl/led).

Is this (2700k) a better deal than the Philips 2-pack for $4.97?
