Found this when I logged into my Costco Amex and Blue Cash Everyday accounts. As always with Amex Offers, YMMV.

Get a one-time $5 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $5 or more on Google Play by 8/31/2015.

Terms:
Enrollment limited. Offer is non-transferable. Must add offer to eligible American Express Card and use same Card to redeem. Offer limited to single transaction of $5 or more. Limit 1 statement credit per American Express online account. Offer valid only for purchases made on Google Play with enrolled American Express Card. Offer not valid for purchases made with Google Wallet or on Google Express. Offer only available in the United States and its outlying territories. Enrolled Card must be set as Google Play payment method in order to receive statement credit. If you receive a replacement Card during the offer and use that Card to enroll, you must update your Card on file with Google Play. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 8/31/15, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. Google Play is a trademark of Google Inc. POID: BTK4:0001
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

6/14 update: Google Play Credit now works. AMEX has fixed their systems to recognize and credit Google Play wallet credit purchases![/QUOTE]

^Thanks wolverine88 (rep him!) Confirmed by Ashvins, KUNGFUKID and rsveteran.

Confirmed can get automatically $5 back (with email confirmation from Amex)
* purchase MP3
* add credit to google voice
* buy in-game items
* Google Play credits.

some games that are exactly $5:

https://play.google.com/store/app...days&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/app...ery1&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/app...ery2&hl=en

Offer not valid for purchases made with Google Wallet or on Google Express <<< When we add the card to payment method, it will go directly to Google Wallet, how to get around this???

This is the email you get from Amex. I guess if you follow it you should technically get the credit even if it's showing as Google Wallet on your charges.

Seems like the best thing to do would be to buy exactly $5 worth of Google Play credit, assuming that works (and I see nothing in the terms to think it wouldn't).

I'm pretty sure it should be immediate.

If anyone has purchased anything and gotten the credit, please post and let us know. I wonder if it works differently if you buy a movie directly from Google Play or something along those lines...
