Every time there's a discussion on computer sales at Aldi, the store's whole existence becomes a topic of discussion here.
I can feed our family of seven on $250 a month buy buying at Aldi (not counting produce and WIC items). But getting their prices has been a chore, until now. I found and scanned a price list I found at our new Aldi. The date says the prices are effective until 4/12/08, but in my experience their prices don't fluctuate much - or vary much by location (we just moved from NJ to MI, and prices are as I remember them).
Unlike other store's circulars, this list includes the prices of ALL the items Aldi carries and their retail prices, with package sizes.
I've also mentioned Aldi in the Angel Food thread - this is why we don't do Angel Food Ministries, Aldi is cheaper even than that program.
Part of the Hot Deal here is not having to drive to your local Aldi to check prices!

thanks
Another thing: getting meats at the big chain loss leader sales is still your best bet for most meats.
Hours are nearly impossible for me to shop, the selection sucks, cash & debit only (I'm a rewards cc user w/o a debit card) and their meat prices are always higher than just about every store in the area.
They do have a handful of items that are cheaper and comparable to know brands but not enough to make me want to go way out of the way to get there.

I am feeding a family of 4 for about 150 bucks a month.
I love it when snacks for the kids are a dollar.
And.........it is quick to shop there on my way home from work. No long lines and I don't have to walk way in the
back of a big store.

Is it just another supermarket or what?

But otherwise, I'm a big CC rewards user also.
i think i may like this place, once they finish setting up and open the store
the only thing i dont like is this whole idea of paying cash/debit... i use my Visa at supermarkets and get 5% back

However, they don't provide bags or baggers, no credit cards, shopping carts require a quarter deposit to use, stores are minimally staffed (but very fast checkers!) and they barely advertise. So prices are a lot lower - lower even than sam's and costco.
edit --- looks like previous poster beat me to it..
Also like to add that I don't get why someone would pay more for something just to get rewards? Do you like "presents" that much? I use a rewards card for everything I can, but it doesn't make any sense to spend more money than you need to just to wait a year and have them give some of it back to you. Not a valid reason to avoid shopping at a place like this, IMO.
