This actually sucks if they are going to use "lasership" and their moron drivers more. God I hope not! I will actually buy less if they all get delivered with lasership.

I am going to send their customer service an email and tell them that if they plan to replace UPS with lasership that I am going to seriously consider canceling my Prime service. Lasership is FREAKING AWFUL.

Amazon is about 11% of UPS business.
They are losing money on every package they deliver.
Amazon pays about $1 per package to UPS
The average cost to UPS is about $1.14
When you factor in salary, gas,vehicle
Believe me folks this is happening real soon

I dunno, but UPS and FedEx recently jacked up their rates sky-high. They switched to a "dimensional pricing" scheme, where the weight of the package is pretty much irrelevant. What matters is the size of the box. Packages that used to cost me $15 to ship cross country now cost $30+. It's absolutely ridiculous and totally unsustainable, especially since USPS hasn't matched the price increases.

Well that makes sense. While the weight of a package has implications on the cost to ship it (more gas in a plane or truck), if a package takes up an extrordinary amount of space, for example space that could be used by another package, I'd say that impacts the cost to ship it a lot more than the weight. I'm sure they've run the numbers and figured that most packages aren't all that heavy, but are light for their size and thus have changed pricing.

I don't use USPS as a good price barometer because they aren't exactly a true competitor in the field of shipping - they can - and do - run losses (perpetually), which is something a private business really can't do (at least for long), and their hands are semi-tied when it comes to setting price levels, so they can't exactly respond to the market.

I agree with others though - I've had a SINGLE package delivered by "lasership" and it was a very shitty experience.
