Heads up!!! Changes to amazon prime terms and conditions that went into effect july 31, 2015

Okay guys just noticed changes to the Amazon Prime benefits. It has always been that you could share a Prime membership with up to four additional household members. Well, Amazon [amazon.com] has now changed it that you may only share Prime shipping benefits to only one account (an adult account). I believe if you sign up for a new membership from now one that is how it will be. However, this can still effect existing Prime members. I just removed a household member from the benefits yesterday and today I can no longer add them back. So, unless Amazon gets enough complaints regarding this change made without notice to existing members if you ever remove anyone from the Prime benefits you will not be able to add them back.

I know this is not a "hot deal" per se. But, I think folks need a heads up about this change Amazon put into effect today without consent.

Thread about Amazon household

From Wiki of that thread

Create a Household
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/cu...learn_more
In order to use Family Library to share your content with another adult in your household, you must join an Amazon Household together. Members of an Amazon Household include:
  • Two adults, each with their own Amazon account.
  • Up to four children. Child profiles are created as part of an adult's account.

"About Amazon Households
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/cu...546&sr=1-2
  • Households can contain up to six members:
    • Two adults, each with their own Amazon account.
    • Up to four children, who don't need Amazon accounts in order to be a part of the household.
  • Family Library
With Family Library, you can link two Amazon accounts and share books on your Kindle, other compatible Amazon devices, and media apps. Content from both accounts can also be added to up to four child profiles. Please see your device-specific Family Library Help page for more information.
  • Sharing Prime Benefits
Eligible Prime benefits can only be shared between the two adults in a household. Customers who are Amazon Student Prime members (free trial or paid) or invited guests of other Prime members can't share their benefits. However, other types of Prime members can share eligible benefits with those types of members.
The following Prime benefits can be shared with other household members:
    • Prime shipping benefits
    • Prime Instant Video (streaming only)
    • Kindle Owners' Lending Library
    • Prime Early Access
  • Sharing Amazon Mom Benefits
If one of the adults in an Amazon Household is an Amazon Mom member, the Amazon Mom benefits can be shared as long as one of the adults is a Prime member. Both adults can save 20% off diapers through Subscribe & Save, access exclusive deals, and save 15% on eligible products in their baby registry.
If only Amazon Household was about sharing Prime video privileges.... Amazon was hoping you would notice or care about the changes I guess..

Do not remove anybody signed up under your account, you will be unable to add them or anyone else

I'm kinda surprised they let it go on this long given the abuse it was getting. RIP

"Free trial or paid Amazon Prime members can share certain Amazon Prime benefits with one other adult by forming an Amazon Household."

anyone who doubts should be able to confirm with a representative of the change or you can see for yourself when you remove a household member from Prime benefits.

Because we want you to be able to share the very best of Prime, we are introducing the Amazon Household Program. With Amazon Household, in addition to sharing your access to the Prime FREE Two-Day shipping that you love, you and one other adult family member and four children will be able to share Prime Instant Video, Prime Early Access, and the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. Additionally, Prime members with Amazon Mom can share their 20% diaper and 15% Baby Registry discounts. Create a family library to share books, apps, and games with your Household members across all of their Amazon devices and media apps. Both Household adults can manage parental controls with Amazon FreeTime for children in the Amazon Household. Create your Amazon Households to share your Prime benefits here [amazon.com]

Depends on how you look at. If you are currently sharing with four household members and remove any of them they can never be added back unless the backlash is so bad that Amazon changes things back. What I am most disgusted with is that they just tried to do this very deceptively, no notice, no nothing. They just decided we can change the terms and conditions of the program without regard to their subscribers.

splitting the cost of prime with 4 people
so about $20 each person...$25 if you pay the $100 for a year

Yes but go look in that area Mr. Bean. Those children cannot use their own account for Prime shipping benefits so yes Prime shipping benefits is down to two household members per account.
