It sounds more like a dealer decision than a manufacturer decision?

It's a dealer decision and a lot of those cars don't have a fix yet

We called the corporate phone numbers for both Toyota and Honda (not dealer phone number). We were offered rental cars and then transferred to the dealer to schedule a pickup.

Alternative transportation is standard at most dealerships for work including recalls. This is not a "hot deal" but a good heads up if you haven't already received your recall letter from the manufacturer

Toyota doesn't have a fix yet, but they still offered a rental car while they figure out the fix.

Until they fix the issue, I think. You can ask for rental car even if they don't have the part.

Thanks. Did they get you one from rental service or a loaner from dealership?

Rental service both times because the dealers were out of loaners.

I think so, if it takes that long to fix it. This is going be a sizeable one-time charge on their financials.

Hm, I have 1 card under the Honda category and my sister has 1 under the Toyota category. Should I call Honda/Toyota asap? I have a few dealers less than 5 miles from me.
