Hi everyone,

You should start noticing a new tag on some profiles.

SD Verified icons and wording will show up on certain accounts held by merchants who have asked for, and been granted, permission to be on Slickdeals to offer Customer Support.

We have implemented a set of rules for them that they have agreed to in order to hold these accounts.
  • They have to have their company name as their user name for transparency.
  • They have Customer Support (or Services) as their user title.
  • They can only offer support. If you are having an issue with an order or trouble contacting someone on their site for support they are here to help.
  • They may NOT post deals.
  • They may NOT sweeten deals already posted.
  • They may NOT discuss upcoming deals.


The reason they are here is solely to help you.
The icon lets you know that we know they are here and that we have verified they are connected to the company they display.

We wouldn't want you to give order information to just anyone who says they work for a company..so now you will be able to spot them.

If you run into a member who says they are the merchant and offers to help and you don't see the badge please let us know.
We will check into it and apply the badge if needed. We very well may have missed some that are on here and we'll work to clear it up quickly.

Is there going to be a list of all of the verified accounts to make it easy to see if a merchant has a rep here?

Thanks for the idea/question...I will have to see if it's something they will auto generate since I doubt I would be great at keeping up with something like that in the long run but it would definitely be a good thing to have so members would know who they could reach out to for help with order issues. Thumbup

Unfortunately we don't have a dedicated site section for these users so it'll just be this post for now until we figure something out.

Just to put this in a bit of perspective...

We arrived at this place a bit differently than maybe the way you imagine we came up with this.

We had deal threads Smilie
Sometimes there were glitches and members complained in threads.
Merchants reached out to us and said "hey, that hurts us...we would like that removed".
We replied "umm sorry we don't do that.. our site is all about letting members give feed back, you need to fix whatever it is they are complaining about whether it be slow delivery wrong orders etc"

*members were unhappy and merchants wanted to help them...

They replied..."we're working on it but in the meantime people a

So the thought was.. they would only be seen once they popped into the threads in question...where an issue was already in play.

You just brought up a good point... that it would be nice to have a place to go to to see which merchants have a Customer Service presence here that could be approached for help.

With BF approaching and many things in the works with that and as you know the redesign and other things still being worked on... anything "new" that isn't a quickwin (and I am told this is probably going to take some dev time since we don't have a place designated for them and updated automatically will take a higher level of effort than they can allocate right now.

I really think it would be great to have this list somewhere easily found and auto generated as more merchants have a presence but it might be after the rush.

Perhaps make the member merchants aware that they might receive private messages for help with issues?
So the respective email notifications to said merchant should be looked at/read/responded to ASAP?

I mean, hey....if they wanna fix an issue (hopefully) before they get bad press, that's the way to do it IMHO.

Granted, that is what their CS is for, but some of those "member merchants" apparently are failing there if SDer's are venting in the deal threads.

Your thread title, if this were in SIS, would be where I would look for such a list Smilie

Yes well this was an announcement to let you know about the feature, the new icon/tag in some profiles so members would know what it is and stands for.

If these users all share a usergroup and/or user title you can just create a new page based off the memberlist page and query the member table with a "where usertitle equals/contains ..." It's not a 5 minute job, but shouldn't take a skilled coder familiar with the layout more than a couple hours. Of course I'm sure these guys have other things on their plate and I can relate. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks to find a couple hours for side projects.

Thanks for the heads up, looks like a mod handeled the posts and likely sent them a message on the proper way to go about this. Smilie
