Can you point me to a stainless steel bottle water that is made in USA? I'm looking for it too and haven't been able to find one. Sometimes, we just have to do with what's available.

If it is made in USA, the price will be double. Even the iPhone is made in china.

This very similar one [amzn.com] is a few bucks cheaper, and in fact I got it about 18 months ago for $19. This is not a good price.

Laken Janu makes stainless water bottles in Spain. They have child labor laws and strict environmental regulations. Not made in the USA but they play by the same rules.

Lifeline Fifty/Fifty and Hydro flask are basically the same thing, except Hydro flask has a better lifetime warranty. Lifeline has a 1 year warranty. IMHO, for a couple dollars more, I rather buy a Hydroflask for the warranty.

i think the answer is within your question... "plastic"

also the lifetime warranty, superior insulation, the holier than thou factor Wink

Excellent build quality. I've had the 40oz double-walled vacuum insulated version in white for about two months now. No complaints. Impress your friends with ice chunks still floating in the water after two days of the bottle sitting in a hot car. I carry this thing everywhere.

Hydro Flask is the better of the two. More well known, better reviews, better warranty. You can settle for less, but why?
