Not greatest price compare to Best Bu $39.99 a while back but its gone now, this is best price for Brand New so far
Zero tax for me (CA), free shipping and total $49.99 still comparable to Best Buy's $39.99 + tax
I've had both the Moto E and Volt for a while now. It's not clear cut which one is better because they each have advantages.
The IR remote in the Volt is very limited in what it can control - not programmable or manageable with other apps. Moto E seems to pick up a better signal but have not done conclusive testing.
I've compared call quality back to back and have found no difference.
Both are easily rootable, including the Sprint pre-paid model in this slickdeal:
This is a CDMA phone, and it will not work with GSM services such as T-Mobile and AT&T.
It also cannot be used with Verizon.
It will work with RingPlus, and it is one of the most popular phones SDers are using with RingPlus and their recent flurry of Future promos.
It includes a SIM card and has the MEID and ICCID printed on the box.
The comparison between Moto E and Volt - I've been trying to summarize the key talking points.
Volt has these, Moto E does not:
Volt has LED Flash / Flashlight
Volt has LED notification light
Volt has infrared remote capability (albeit severely limited)
Volt has .2" larger display
Volt Navigation buttons don't take up display space
Volt has Longer life battery & does last longer
Volt has 1080p 8 MP camera
Volt has NFC
Volt has compass
Has newer version of Android Lollipop (if that matters to you) but will not be updated by Motorola to Marshmellow
Works with some GSM carriers overseas (see xda forum for data points)
Has "active notifications"
Has light sensor that dims display based on lighting
Softer touch feel - less plastic feeling
May have better radio for low signal areas
