Yes most NEW SPP, VM or Boost will activate hands free off box sticker, fresh out of the box.

Type in MEID hex or dec and ICC ID off the box sticker. DO NOT turn on phone, hit yes take me to dashboard, toggle off data and MMS ($) fire up phone and sit back while it updates over wifi. That is all there is too it. If error try again or just return to store for exchange.

Goal - swap 2 phones between 2 plans with aid of a 3rd phone or ESN which is inactive, and swapping can be done immediately without a waiting period. First make sure your RingPlus balance on each plan has enough to cover the swaps (now $1.99) The plans do not have to be on the same RingPlus account. WARNING, there is no guarantee you won't end up with a waiting period, but generally swapping is easy and phones work within hours of swap.

Plan A - has Phone A
Plan B - has Phone B
Phone C is an inactive Phone or ESN

1) Plan A - swap from Phone A to Phone C
2) Plan B -swap from Phone B to Phone A
3) Plan A - swap from Phone C to Phone B
4) Phone C is back to being inactive

*Each of the 3 device swaps costs $1.99 cents each, so it costs about $6 to complete a three way swap as shown.

Canceling a free line ties up the phone until the next billing cycle if you are trying to activate a NEW free line with the phone, just as if the phone was swapped out of a free plan. Doing a device swap on a different free plan to the phone from the canceled free plan works immediately. source Main Wiki https://slickdeals.net/f/7912559-ringplus-is-going-to-try-free-ad-supported-cell-service-again?v=1

For LG VOLT (doesn't work with LG Tribute 2) owners on Tether Plan, enable hidden hotpsot with this minor tweak
tethering with built-in app
I used Shortcut Master (Lite) by vndnguyen from Play Store.

1) After installing and then launching the app, go to upper right corner menu and tap the three dots.

2) Do a search (third option from top in menu) for "ChameleonNodeMenu".

3) Tap on "Launch" (picture of the rocket ship).

4) Tap on "tethered data" option at the bottom.

5) Select "get"

6) change that to a 4 and hit SET to save.

7) Exit out of app and reboot the phone.

8) When phone boots up, go to "Settings" and under "Wireless Networks" at the top, tap on more.

9) Tap on "Wi-Fi hotspot" and setup, don't forget to password protect!!!

10) You can now toggle "Wi-Fi hotspot" on and enjoy wireless tethering!

This steps will not work on Boost mobile LG G STYLO from Amazon

maybe someone can confirm that and we'll get a wiki going. I'd buy a dozen just to flip. nod and keep a few for wifi only remotes.

I doubt the Verizon version will work on ringplus, they lock their phones down pretty good.

I am like 98% sure it will not work. Also the verizon version does not have any of the spark LTE bands which has helped out while the tribute 2 does.

RingPlus can activate most inactive Sprint postpaid phones. Although not officially supported, brand new, never activated Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Sprint Prepaid phones usually, but not always, work. Check the seller's return policies before buying a prepaid phone for use on RingPlus. Enter the phone's MEID (on a label on the outside of the phone packaging) on the RingPlus Device Check Page to see if your phone can be activated on RingPlus http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2...rrent.html

Thanks. I guess phone companies are evolving beyond sim-card-only phones.

RingPlus charged me $6.01 to top up $5.00 recently for my free plan.

I never over-used the free amount, so I submitted a ticket to find out why.

For the past 2 weeks, I never heard anything from them yet.

I tried to use the online chatting, but even during the business hour, it says "Come back during the business hour".

I called today to their number an hour ago, and the automatic message says "Come back during the business hour".

Be aware if you are planning to be a serious user of their service.

Because...taxes. Before you hit agree to the top up amount, they specifically say how much you'll be after taxes as well. $1.01 extra is nothing, I'm here in WA and it's like $7+ for a $5 top up. Almost everyone can agree their customer service is pretty non-existent but most non-account related issues can be fixed with some research. Once everything works, it's pretty much smooth sailing.

I'll try to be kind here, every darn ringplus thread has warned people about taxes. You have nothing to complain about, it's a one time fee and a one time tax if you stay under the plan allotments. Just read more and take complaints to the ringplus thread I linked to. This thread is only for phone deals.

hah, thanks for the help. Ironically it's uninformed readers that contribute to the support ticket problem. I'm in WA too and I've spent way to much on taxes but it's the price we pay for the scenery and Seahawks.

great job, OP.
If you have some free time, some short comparison between phones or spec would be nice.
For example,

Moto E
no flash, non-removable battery.

Samsung Prevail
white

LG Tribute 2
has power and volume buttons in the back.

obviously, i'm not a phone techie.
