T-Mobile Free Data Upgrade, From 1GB to 2GB - Simple Choice North America Plan + Binge On + Free Roaming in Canada&Mexico

I thought I'd like to share. This is essentially a free upgrade to 2GB of high speed data with the new Simple Choice North American Plan.

Compared to old plan, 3 main new features.
  • Simple Choice − Now with double the data, from 1G the old Simple Choice Plan
  • Binge On − Watch your shows, not your data
  • Mexico and Canada: 4G LTE data and unlimited calling and texting when you're in

I found these 2 pages provided good summary.

hm I have the 2.5GB promotional plan and wonder if they would just let me keep it forever. If not I would definitely do this

probably. especially since a lot of the new stuff doesn't apply to the older plans.

Same for me... perfectly happy with 2.5 GB and not really upset about missing on the BingeOn. Any idea what will happen?

It's not automatic. Either call or modify the plan online.

Thanks for sharing but I would be wary any info from reps unless they could substantiate with any written (webpage) information. You know, we all play the game (of saying something to end the matter even if we are not certain!) at least once in awhile.

I am also in the 1GB upped to 2.5GB family plan until Jan 2016 (I suppose) and hence need to get the correct info. This plan worked out fine so far as smartphones have become mature and commoditized and we got to replace only when necessary.

FYI: Terms for Binge On: Any new or existing customer with 3GB data plan or larger can stream for free without worrying about your data.

So i guess this basic plan with 2GB won't qualify for Binge on and you will end up using your data

I though you must be on a SIMPLE PLAN to qualify but with us on the grandfathered older plans like the Value Plan $20 Unlimited Data gets no benefits with all these new features and promos: Teathering, Borderless, etc.

I had the same concern..so i did a chat and they increased just the data from 1 GB to 2GB and still kept the same plan (Simple choice)...plan did not change and they said i still keep the corporate discount

Anyways..I asked the rep and they said the new plans even the 4 lines for $120 with 6GB data qualified for the corporate discount...you can confirm as well
