Need Help Choosing Between Two Laptops

Blammm 368 1,356 November 28, 2015 at 07:35 AM More Staples Deals
Laptop I wanted went OOS so I scrambled and picked up two different laptops on Black Friday. Obviously, I only need one.

The options are:

1) HP 15-ac163nr, 15.6" HD BrightView, Intel® Core™ i3-5005U, 750GB, 6GB, Windows 10, Notebook, Silver (

Bought from Staples for $299 after rebate

2) HP Black 15.6" 15-f211wm Laptop PC with Intel Celeron N2840 Processor, 4GB Memory, Touchscreen, 500GB Hard Drive and Windows 10 Home

Bought from Walmart for $249

I'm not a big gamer but I have had problems multitasking on my current laptop. I tend to have a lot of windows open at any given point in time. (And I don't need the Touch portion of the 15-f211wm. I feel like it would be weird to turn my laptop into a touchscreen after all of these years. It's not a tablet.)

Any input would be appreciated!

Avoid anything with the N2840. It's architecture shares little with other intel chips, and it has hardly half the power of the i3 5005U. If you're planning on multitasking that's going to be an issue for you.

These are both not gaming laptops. They are low end web browsing, word processing type machines. I would recommend doing your research and tempering your expectations. The build quality one some of these low cost machines can be pretty bad.

That being said I would go with #1, due to the stronger processor, 2 extra gb of ram, and larger hard drive.

#1 is the better choice, but without really mentioning your needs it's hard to decide on if this laptop will suit you the most.

Seeing as you're paying up to $300 after rebate, why not take a look at this one:

It was $405 a few days ago (after VIsa Checkout, but that's sadly expired), but at $429, it's still a decent price.

For the extra $130 (since I don't think anyone here will suggest that celeron), you get:

Intel Core i5 5200U (2.20 GHz)
8 GB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 940M 2 GB
1920 x 1080 resolution

That's just an example though. Keep looking around and you might find a significantly better device for a little more than your budget.
