YMMV, but you might also be able to find this on Google Express (via Costco) and apply promo coupons to make it sweeter. The Chicago area Google Express had 27 gallon totes for 5.99 before promo discounts.

Are these still good, or are they are new version that's less durable?

How high can I stack them without breaking the lids, if I don't put anything too heavy, just normal stuff?

Still great, at least 7 high easily.

To me these are the best storage bins you can get right now. Check out the other thread for my comparison between the HD, Lowe's and Costco ones.

You need to be more specific about stacking. What's normal stuff? A bin full of cotton candy or a bin full of 50lb plates? Mine are between 85-110lbs each. I have them stacked 4 high. The sides of the bottom one are bowed out a bit. Not to the point of breaking but you can definitely see it. The good thing about plastic like this is that when it's really stressed, it looks white. These aren't that yet.
