Looks like NewEgg (through eBay) has the Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 on sale for $54.99 again. This happened back in November and was a front page deal. Hope this helps some folks out!

Great deal, and a great modem. Wonder why NE doesn't just have it at this price on their own site, wouldn't it make them more money not having to give Ebay a cut?

Got this model a few weeks back as a present. I have Comcast's 25 Mbps service, and by just switching to this modem, my speed jumped to 40 Mbps. The blue signal lights are very bright. A piece of tape over them solves the problem.

We've been hearing a number of reports that Comcast has moved our pick, the Motorola Surfboard SB6141, to end-of-life status. The leased version has; the retail version (our pick) hasn't. We spoke to our contacts at Comcast HQ, and here's what they told us:
"...[W]e recently moved the SB6141 to end of life status for customers who have been leasing that particular modem from us. We will be swapping that device with newer models for no additional charge (for leased customers) as needed. For customers who have either already purchased the SB6141 or are considering buying one, we continue to support the device and we're working with the manufacturer to ensure it continues to receive regular firmware updates that keep it running well. However, if they are unable to continue to provide regular firmware updates (such as bug fixes), then we may also consider moving the retail version to end of life status as well."

But article continues to state:
After 14 hours of new research this year, the $90 ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 remains the cable modem we'd recommend for most people. Unlike the competition, it's compatible with almost all of the fastest Internet plans from seven of the eight biggest Internet providers (there are others that are compatible with as many providers, but none support most of their fastest speeds). This includes Charter, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable, as well as many other ISPs. You can move almost wherever you want and be assured that this buy-once, use-for-awhile device will still work. (Or you can switch providers if there's a better deal in your area.)

End of Life and no it's not. The retail version, which is the white version is still good.
