Try coupon CLIVE2016 for an additional $20 discount. Worked for me! Thanks for the notice, naruto02!

BB Movers coupon takes $11 off. $98.99 plus tax.

FYI: Be aware of the hardware encryption. If you plan to open the enclosure and use the drive somewhere else, skip the warning.

update 1/11/2016 PST 12:02am: CLIVE2016 doesn't appear to work for both BB and Ebay. I'm thinking of holding off because the only reason this item is on sale is due to the screwy encryption, which I'm sure wd wants to rid their troublesome stock.
-----------------
update: I was told by bestbuy that if you buy it from ebay, you won't be able to return it to BestBuy store front for a refund.

^^^^ Clarification: My packing slip from ebay purchase says "You may return merchandise to a Best Buy store within the U.S. with the option of receiving a credit or an exchange." The other option is mailing it to a return center in OH. It's unclear if "credit" is store credit (gift card) or refund to credit card/paypal.

There's a little bit of misinformation going on in this thread. Yes, wayyyyy back in the beginning of this drive, it was possible to get a Red drive, but that was mostly for the Elements drive which this is not. These came with Green drives pretty much 100% of the time. And they kind of still do. WD officially announced a while back that all Green drives were being rebranded to Blue Drives. So regardless of if you get a Green or a Blue, you're still essentially getting the Green either way. Now the reason this is good is because all you have to do to "fix" these drives, regardless of Green or Blue is adjust the sleep time using WDIDLE3 tool. The timer is set for something extremely low to shut the drive off quickly and save power. The reason this is bad is because it increases load cycles so much that I actually decreases the Drive's life. By setting it to the same amount as the Red drive (300s), users have been able to get "Red level" drive life out of their Green/Blues. Now I'm sure there's a way to tell if you're getting a newer rebranded Blue or an older Green/possibly Red, but the easiest way for me is to see the Drive's box. If it's enormous, it's likely a Green/Red. If it's more streamlined and smaller, you've got a Blue. Either way, it's all effectively the same drive. I've opened 2 of these up and they were Blues. Been using them since Thanksgiving and they work great after adjusting the sleep timer. Please now that pulling them out of the enclosure voids your warranty and unless you can get them back into the enclosure safely, you've lost the warranty either way. Hopefully this clears all the info flying around here up. Good luck.
From what I just googled, it appears to be either a Green or even a Red drive. I'll check locally to get a red one. Thanks for the heads up, OP.

From an Amazon review:
Note: the hard drive is not the typical Green Desktop Hard Drive we usually find in these enclosure, but Red NAS (Network Attached Storage) Drive. Not sure if WD generally use the Red Drive for this model or they are just using it for this batch to meet demands.

For those that would like to see what color drive is inside please refer to DCM: the Green will have DCADBAD on the box bottom label, while all of the Red drives are DCADBAC
If you have the $20 eBay coupon, it'll come out to $90 since it's the same price on eBay.

great deal, got mine from fry's for the same price (with tax it was 118) and it works just fine. did an extended test and nothing wrong was with the drive.

I'm too lazy to rip out the green drive that's probably inside of there and put it in my desktop so I use it as it's intended and I've had no problems with it so far.

also, why does 5tb for this seem so cheap? 2 tb external drives go for 70-80 when they're on sale.

A quick Google didn't bring up any info on what you are taking about, can you expound on what you mean?

I got one of these about a month back for the same price @ Best Buy. Blue box with black label. For those interested, I can confirm this has a WD BLUE drive inside.
Internal Drive = WDC WD50EZRZ-32RWYB1

DCM on the bottom of the box = FDBEKAC
