Both federal and state are available for free either as online https://www.taxact.com/ or download (preferred for security reasons). The free versions will do 1040, sch A, B, C, D, E, and nearly all forms most people will need. However, to get the schedules D and E, you have to use the online free version rather than the download version. Although they seem to say there are income limits and other restrictions on the free version, in practice there appear to be no limits.

In regards to above, The free version does not include schedules C,D, or E. Those require a paid product.

This is $14.98 for TaxAct Plus Federal & State, which is the same price to their regular $14.99.
Federal: $9.99
State: $4.99
(E-filing is included with those prices)

Available for New & Returning users.
returning Users, see post #89 Create a new account using a different email address, and it should give you the promo price. reusing the same email address as last year (even with a different user name) is a no-go.

I was able to reuse the same account as last year for this deal. I had previously logged in to that account and must have pulled up enough of the 2015 return for it to redirect me to continue that return at $15 federal + $15 state when clicking OPs link. I deleted that barely started 2015 return and then I was able to start a new 2015 return with the $10 + $5 price using the OP's link. Here's how to delete an unfinished 2015 return to allow you to start over with the discounted price:
  1. Click My Return in the top right
  2. Click Manage My Returns
  3. Click Continue to My Account
  4. Click the down arrow next to the full-priced entry under the 2015 returns section.
  5. Click Delete Return
  6. Now after logging in to your account, open the OP's link and you should be able to lock in the $15 price

Note: Several people have posted this question and nobody has answered so here is the common answer: the $15 special is for Online Only version. It is not for the Download version. However, there is a promotion code for 20% so the downloaded Version of "TaxAct 2015 Plus Edition" which is $29.99 can be bought for $23.99

For returning users, create a new account. Then once you start your return you have the option to import your 2014 return data from another TaxAct account. Put in the login information from last year and it will import that data like it did in previous years.
I've been using TurboTax or TaxSlayer. How does Tax Act compare? Also, is it web based or is there a OSx downloadable version?

How did you find this??? Thank you so much!

I thought all hope was gone when they raised prices.

Maybe now if we wait they'll go back down to $11.98 or whatever they were in previous years.

Any deals for Premium version so I can get Schedule C/Self-employment stuff?

Is this only for new accounts, or is there some way to get this deal on an existing TaxACT account?

When you log into your account, and expand "My Account Summary" there is a link to "View All Returns", It should show you 2015 return with Type "1040: Plus" and Price "$9.99".

I've signed up for some of the other deals with different usernames, so depending on which account I log into, I see my federal return cost at $12.49, $11.99 and now with this one $9.99.

I plan to just keep creating new accounts as better and better deals come, I won't start my taxes until Feb/March anyway Smilie.
