I saw this earlier in the morning and was debating whether to get it. I've been debating between a cheap Chromebook and a beefier Windows machine. A couple of potential downsides I've identified from doing an embarrassing amount of research:

-Keyboard seems to have some flex, based on Youtube videos. Also, key travel is short.
-Battery life reportedly is short, probably ~5 hours
-Screen is IPS but colors aren't great
-Both RAM and SSD are upgradeable (reportedly)

Even though there are some drawbacks, this seems like a great deal for $400 if you're specifically in the market. The other Core M ultrabook I was looking at is the Ativ Book 9, which is $650 on Amazon.

Ultimately I decided against it. My search continues...

something odd with that link. when you click the 256gb and click back, the price goes up to 650.

I may have another go at this. I tried an Open box at $400 a few days back, but it had awful backlight bleed.

I'm considering this vs the surface pro 3 deal ($500 - i3; ~$650 including pen and type cover) for school and web (maybe email also Big Grin)

Any thought on which one should I go for?

Does the student coupon work on open box in-store? I see it doesn't work online.

Why isn't this deal getting more attention? Seems to have pretty impressive specs for the price. People are scared of the Core M?

Can the Ram be upgraded on this 2 in 1? 4GB is a bit low for my usage.

It actually is the newer version of the y series. The broadwell version of the core M was pretty bad, it seems like with skylake intel fixed the core M. This has the general speed of an older i5 or skylake i3. Great chip in day to day use, but its not a powerhouse. This is the same processor in the base model microsoft surface 4.

As for this deal... not a bad deal at all. I really wish lenovo put a backlit keyboard in this or at least made it thinner. They have had this same body for years now. I have used every Yoga 11' to date (pentium-y-core m) and after last years version I ended up returning it within about a day because it just wasn't really worth it. When the Yoga 11 first came out (not the RT model) it was novel, innovative, and different. Now it just seems like they gave up on making it better.

I'm quite interested in this & thanks to the OP plus those who've taken the time to provide detailed info & opinion.

One (feels like ignorant) question: What is the ". edu code"...is that something I could obtain (perhaps from a known thread here that I don't know about)? TIA.

YMMV. I grabbed a Geek Squad certified one in local store and paid $354 before tax using the student coupon.
