I find it immensely helpful for general TV watching. I have it set to control my TV, Receiver, and Tivo. A simple, "Xbox, On" command when I walk through the door will turn all of those devices on for me. Other times I will be cooking and have my hands full and being able to control the volume with my voice is handy (or muting).

Word of advice--when going through the Kinect calibration, it will tell you to be completely silent. I have found that doing the opposite makes for better results. So when going through the calibration, turn on the sink, run disposal, make some popcorn, and practice playing the trumpet--make as much background noise as possible. Since calibrating it this way, the Kinect has been much more accurate picking out my voice while watching a movie/tv or playing a game.

I guess that's a valid question; I don't know; I have a Kinect from the XBox One launch when it was required. Yes, it worked, and was very cool for a while. I didn't do many games that needed Kinect (there aren't many!). I used it for Blu-ray player control (Yell "XBox pause" "XBox play" but if you have a movie on you really have to yell at it to get it's attention). Plus it was creepy how Bill Gates was watching me all the time and wondering why my house is so messy.

I moved the console to another room and never brought the Kinect -- it hasn't been hooked-up in a year now!

That said, it's very cool hardware for what it is, and if you're at all inclined to try Kinect (i.e. kids games, exercise games) at this price I'd recommend it.

Dance Central 2015
Dance Central 2016

Other than that its the selection of work out games and sports games that have been available since year one or games that can be played using the regular controller instead of solely requiring the kinect..

Aside from Just Dance, there's some smaller indie games that tend to pop up that uses the Kinect like Slice Zombies & Squid Hero.

Awesome. I wonder if it'll have a bonus game code thrown in... usually bundled but I'm not sure if it's *always* bundled with something.
