I would recommend not getting anything now. Buying lenses is addictive and costly. Instead go out and take pictures like crazy. See what you like to do. See what you wish you could do. What kind of photography do you like? Landscape, portrait, macro, nature, sports, street... Are you always wishing you could extend the lens more? Do you wish you had a wider angle? Do you need better low-light performance or subject isolation?

I would say to shoot for quite a while, a year or so, before building a lens collection. Then, when you buy one, go for a great one. I have bought too many inexpensive lenses, if I could do it over, I'd buy fewer better lenses. Save up some money, lenses will last you for many camera bodies and are worth the investment.

Enjoy!

Does Adorama charge tax to CA residents? I usually buy from B&M, and they do not.

massdrop is + 7 dollars shipping. This bundle also includes a uv filter, cleaning kit, and software. Plus you won't have to wait for the drop to ship. Free express shipping is 7-10 business days. Expedited shipping (1-3 business days) is only another 3 dollars. I just cancelled my massdrop order.

Also, if you use paypal credit, you can get no interest for 6 months for purchases over 99 dollars. Repped, thanks op!

The official Nikon store has it for $649 right now as this appears to be part of Nikon's Standalone Lens Instant Savings Sale that starts March 6th.

Adorama is still a much better deal for anyone that doesn't live in New York or New Jersey.

Was contemplating between 24-85 and 85mm, any inputs? I have been spoiled silly once by a prime lens (35mm) but the 24-85 "range" is useful too. Decisions...decisions!

I just purchased a bundle from buydig like a month ago for the d3300 and i have 2 variable zoom lenses for it, will these fit it and what is the main advantage of a 35 or 50 mm compared to the one included that I think was 18-55mm?
