Dicks Sporting Goods has the Pelican Trailblazer 100 Kayak (sit-in, not sit-on) model on sale for $199. Regular price is $299. I didn't see this on SD anywhere else, nor did I find a better price elsewhere using the Google Shopping search. NOTE: shipping is expensive; select the "ship to store free" option.

This kayak has great reviews and is perfect for kids or those who want to get into kayaking. It's not for rough water, FYI. Also, some stores may have limited stock. Comes with a lifetime warranty on the hull and deck. Just in time for summer!

The wife and i are interested in getting into kayaking (considering the abundance of lakes in MN, where we live). How would this one compare to the "sun dolphin" that is frequently lower priced at sears (regularly priced at 199.99):

In either case, thank you for the post. Triggered my alert Smilie

both are very basic, beginner kayaks.
38** lbs vs 40.
275 lbs capacity vs 250.

I'd just consider those two things as well as price

It's 38 vs 40, not 28 vs 40

I do some fishing from kayaks. Personally I'd choose the Pelican. IMHO it's a slightly more reputable brand, and the seat appears to be padded and therefore likely more comfortable

Either are good for beginners and we're kinda splitting hairs here. You'd have to really dig through reputable reviews to find better info on things like tracking and stability and blah blah blah.... realistically they're about the same. This is an excellent price.

I agree with what the others said about the comparisons. One thing I'd check is the cockpit dimensions. One review of the Sun Dolphin said it was hard to get in and out.... Both have good warranties, so that's good!

Sorry to bother again, I just noticed the Pelican has a drain plug - sometimes those are handy!

I know what you mean - I looked on CL, but everyone around here wanted an arm and a leg!

I tried it. It apparently doesn't apply to the kayaks. I put two kayaks, two paddles and two life vests in the cart, about $560, and it only took off $8. Not sure if it was the paddles or the life vests it applied to since they were all $40 each.

So basically, don't waste your time or get spammed by Dicks for that.
