Member+ is NOT required for this plan!

Yahoo!

RingPlus is keeping customer's FREE Non-Member+ Plans as they are!

After a long debate in this thread, here's the official word from Karl!

Karl:
"I have received several inquiries, causing speculation about what I said or didn't say. So to be clear, RingPlus can't guarantee a plan will exist forever (just like any other telecom big or small). But I can say we don't have any plans to make changes to or cancel any plan for existing Members."

You can even upgrade to this plan!

Continuum Free Plan

Monday (03.14.2016) at 4PM Pacific until

Friday (03.18.2016) at 11PM Pacific

$0/month: 2,000 minutes, 2,000 texts, and 1,800 MB (throttled to 256 kbps on an LTE or 3G connection)

In English, this means that ALL MOBILE DATA for the first 1800 MB is throttled to 256 Kbps. Overages are are not throttled.

Add-ons are not throttled. Mobile data that hits its billing cycle first is used first. So add-ons would best be purchased near the end of the plan billign cycle.

(Whether you experience 3G or 4G at 256kbps will depend on your phone capabilities and the Sprint tower you are accessing at any given time.)

Overages will be at the rate of 2¢ per unit of talk, text and data (overage data will be full speed).

A $20 Top Up is required to cover overages. If, and only if, the Top-Up balance reaches $0, another $20 auto Top Up will be automatically charged to your credit card on file.

The Continuum Plan is for New Lines Only, If a current Member wants to change to this plan, you can do this at the end of your billing cycle. (Member+ is not required for this plan (but allowed)).

*Social requirement: We would very much appreciate it if you post something about yourself (e.g., your hobbies, etc.) which you would like to share on your social.ringplus.net profile in the About Me section of your profile. Once you sign up for your plan at ringplus.net, you can use the same login information to sign in at social.ringplus.net, and set up your profile. You can access your profile by clicking on your forum name or avatar (i.e., icon) which will take you to your profile. Once in your profile, please click on the little orange human to the left of the top left corner of the big box that says Change Picture (for your profile picture). Once you click on the little orange human, a little drop down menu will appear. Please select Edit Profile. At the bottom left of the screen you will see a text box titled About Me. Here you can enter something about yourself that will be visible to other Members when they click on your Social picture or name. Once you are done entering your About Me info, please click on Save. That's it, you're all done!

New update from Karl that was posted after the original "word from Karl" below:

Karl:
"I have received several inquiries, causing speculation about what I said or didn't say. So to be clear, RingPlus can't guarantee a plan will exist forever (just like any other telecom big or small). But I can say we don't have any plans to make changes to or cancel any plan for existing Members."

A word from Karl:

https://social.ringplus.net/discu...arl-ceo/p1

Message to all Members:

We've seen some speculation online that RingPlus will discontinue offering Free Plans for non-Member+ members. That's an easy answer: no, we will continue offering free plans to both members and member+ alike. Our business model is just the same - as you can see with the our new forum (social.ringplus.net), we're moving ahead creating a new market place for sponsors and members alike.

RingPlus has also noticed that some Members have expressed concerns in about Member+ subscriptions and a potential change in our business model.

The two main concerns appear to be that because of the introduction of Member+ subscriptions (1) RingPlus will treat regular Members unfairly by giving Member+ subscribers preferential treatment, and (2) that RingPlus will change its business model to stop offering free service plans. We will now address each of those concerns.

Concern (1): RingPlus has introduced the Member+ program to offer value added services and benefits to those Members who wish to participate. Member+ requires subscription fees (at various subscription levels) because RingPlus has to expend financial and other resources to provide the added services and benefits. Those benefits include Store discounts, Member+ customer services, specially priced plans, and more. The benefits of Member+ will continue to grow and expand into new areas as we all grow together. RingPlus offered discounted lifetime subscriptions for limited times to show our appreciation to current Members.

Concern (2): For regular Members, RingPlus intends to continue to offer ground-breaking free plans, industry leading priced paid plans and Add Ons, unique in-call apps, and more as we move forward.

With the support of all Members, RingPlus intends to reach our ultimate goal of free service for all paid for by sponsored content. We are working hard to bring you new and improved sponsored content which meets your lifestyle needs. As we move forward, all Members will be able to contribute to reaching this ultimate goal by simply doing their shopping (and getting great savings) over RingPlus Radio, the Social forum, and the RingPlus Store.

Member+ will continue to have access to an ever expanding list special value added services and benefits, and RingPlus will continue to work hard to add to the list as we move forward.

RingPlus will neither treat Members unfairly, nor stop offering free plans to individuals who do not subscribe to Member+.

RingPlus will continue to give Member+ subscribers the value for which they are paying.

In all cases, RingPlus will continue to show its appreciation of all of its Members to the best of its ability at any given time.

RingPlus sincerely thanks all of Members for joining and supporting RingPlus. We all have a bright future ahead, and we are changing the face of telecom together.

Thank you.

What is the point of this Continuum Free Plan? Looks like it's time to switch from Leo2 1500/1500/1500.

I'm very pleased to see that RingPlus has come out with another non-member+ free plan. That should console all the fears we were expressing in the other thread that RingPlus would make member+. See Karl's message in the wiki. Kudos to RingPlus! woot

But this one doesn't require the expensive member+. Anyone can hop on this deal for a one time top up. And better yet, Karl's message looks like we will get to keep all our existing free plans with no charge, no member+ necessary! Big Grin

I am glad RP still introduce new plan for free non-Member plus users.
It looks better than Beyond free plan if throttled 3G speed is not bumped to 0.5mbps (for Beyond)....

c'mon, give it a chance, they can't start off big, they need to ramp up data speeds with each new promo. Looking like a viable business plan to me except they sort of spoiled everyone with old plans. Karl still has some ways to go but give him a little credit for getting us this far.
