I have had one for 10 years. The only problem I had was that it shut itself off before the timer ran out. If you experience the same symptom, it must be that the thermistor probe is covered by carbonized matter. There is an internal safety mechanism to shut off the unit when it can't detect heat.

It is fairly east to fix the problem. The probe is located at upper right corner protected by a metal plate. Take a piece of fine sand paper to sand clean the probe right behind the metal plate should fix the problem. you can do that directly from the front without removing anything..

Excellent toaster, had mine for over a decade and still works perfectly. Don't know if they are still made in Japan anymore though

Great toaster, with the infra red element, it warms up almost instantly. it's also BRIGHT - Kids and dogs might think there's a UFO in the kitchen

Isn't this to clear the decks for the new one they just unveiled that's bigger/better?

even if it's true, I don't get why it wouldn't make it a slick deal. the bigger/better one won't be on sale for awhile.

Best Toaster ever! There is something to say about getting your toast toasted the exact same way every time with the press of a button. I hate those knob toasters.

I love this toaster oven. I never have to wait for preheat! For a while they quit selling them and I was heartbroken after mine broke. I finally got another. Only downside is the bulbs will burn out and are $ to replace, but still, worth it to have instant heat.
