clearance from the minimal project one frames in 2014. these were still produced into 2015 but were no different than the 2014 frame which was the most refined 400 level carbon madone ever made. frames weigh about 1150g and are H2 geometry. i bought and built up one of these with all ultrega parts, ultegra ust wheels, tubeless tires, SLK carbon bar, weighs 15.9lbs or 17.02lbs with pedals and the computer on board. these also have the built in frame ANT+ transmitter receptacle . total price for the build i mentioned if you're thrifty, 1800-1900 dollars which is a over grand under what the 2014 4.7 sold for and this is outfitted with better parts. this was a $1200 frameset just a few months ago. this new price is also around what used, chipped one ones sell for used on ebay and cheaper than a mint used one.

as far as i know this deal is ONLY available on the west coast via bike gallery in the PNW or the trek superstore in california

http://www.bikegallery.com/produc...-21654.htm

edit. posted a pic of my build below. i'm 5'10 and ride a 740mm saddle height on a 172.5 crank arm. this is a 56 frame and i can use a 100 or 110mm stem depending on how i want to fit. one of my really good friends is 5'8" with an inseam just a hair over an inch shorter than me and he has the 54 also on 172.5's but could easily go 170 if he wanted to spin more RPM

$1800-1900 is with the $1200 frame or $550 frame price?

It reads that they won't ship from Oregon or California. I would like a 54cm and will call the Trek superstores in Southern California. The ad specifies the $549 price after doing a trade in for $300.00 at the Trek store.

Why isn't there shipping? Are they bikes that easily damaged in transit? How did the bikes get to the stores?

550 price

you could use 105 and make it even cheaper. 1800-1900 gets you tubeless, all ultegra, ti seat, carbon bars, really nice bike. a 105 bike and 140 dollar wheelset could have this bike done considerably under 1500, look at merlin cycles for some of the best current deals and outfit your build up. this frame uses a braze on front derailleur and works well with 23c or 25c tires

really nothing on the market can touch one at this price. you can literally buy and build new for less than buying 2 years old and used

trek is geographic locked. you HAVE to physically pick them up in store. same with specialized

dealer cost at any trek dealer nationwide now is 579 with an 849 list for the clearance price. i have NO idea how gallery and the superstore are able to sell under cost but they did and have. my best guess is a massive volume buy

gallery and the superstore are owned by the same guy btw. the superstore wants a trade but any rusty ass $10 garage sale bike will work

Good deal if you can get it especially considering the alternatives -- I recently built up a bike with a Chinese open mold carbon frame and that was ~$450 for the frame and fork.

How many lbs do these Trek Madone bikes weigh? For example, the Madone 4.7C. Trek doesn't seem to list the weight of their bikes.

How much does Trek charge for a bike with this frame + Ultegra groupset? I'm not too familiar with Trek as they are usually priced higher than comparable bikes from other brands so I don't pay much attention to them.

What do you mean by open mold frame? The frame was made in 2 halves and then joint together?

the 4.7 was the ultegra bike but with bontrager wheels. list was 3150 and a common sale price was 2599

frame weighs 1150g, i have one of these that i built with a full ultegra 6800 groupset, ultegra wheels, tubeless pro1 tires, SLK bar and stem, ti seat, afterburner post, weight is 15.9 without pedals or 17.02 with pedals and computer

the 4.7 was slightly heavier than this since it had heavier wheels, seat, post and bars. if you search around weights are published by some reviews. it was in the high 16s if i remember right bare without pedals.

the geometry is really good, really quick, very agile. the madone has been the go-to frame for the tour de france for years. the high high end madone frames weigh something like 750g but are MUCH more delicate. this frame would ride 10 years without cracking. those ultra lights? they are made for racing and a short life

that domane 4.5 is a HEAVY bike. mostly low end components on a good frame. unless you ride in the rain a lot you're adding half a pound plus with disc, probably closer to a full pound

the whole perk to a frame build is to be rid of the junk most new bikes are built with and not have to buy and strip a new bike just so you can have good parts on it.

it weighs 4lbs more than what i just built and costs 800 more

How would you compare these carbon frame bikes to a high quality alloy frame + carbon fork bike? I've seen many alloy frame+CF fork bikes weighing in at about 17- 18 lbs all the time. I don't know if it's worth it to pay that much more for the CF frame bikes. But then again, I've never rode a CF frame bike yet.

Does it feel more comfortable?
