Costco Executive Member Email Offer - $130 off installed Bridgestone Tires

I just got this email from Costco for $70 off any set of 4 Bridgestone tires and $60 off tire installation. Valid through 4/18/16. The e-mail is titled "Exclusive Bridgestone Tire Offer for Executive Members - Online Only! Plus Additional Offers" The promo code is single use. I put X's where the code would be. I plan on using mine and did not want to give it away. This is my first post so go easy please. Smilie

Thank you for sharing. I generally try to be knowledgeable about things I use daily; however, my knowledge of automobiles is severely lacking.

How can I find out if my car's tires need to be replaced? I feel like bringing my car into virtually any shop will give me the response of, "Yes, it does," because the shop wants my money.

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

Hi Vic,

I have always heard the way most people measure for themselves is to stick a penny in between the threads and if you can see any part of Abe Lincoln's head then it is time to replace your tires. I know my dealership says that when they get down to about 3/32nds of an inch left that it is time to replace. I'm sure you can take your car to a tire shop and tell them you are looking into getting new tires but would like to know how much longer your current tires have they will typically take a look for free. Hope that helps.

Tim

It is worth a shot. I know that last time some Executive Members did not receive the e-mail and they contacted customer service and they gave them a promo code over the phone. It could be worth calling and getting the promo code and then taking that back to Costco and asking them to adjust the price. 95% of the time they adjust the price for me in such instances but I can't guarantee it.

Most tires now will have a wear indicator in between the treads, but most reputable places will not tell you that you need new tires unless you actually do.

If you're not willing to trust them or ask them, there's a lot of ways to measure, the easiest is with a penny. See here: http://www.firestonecompleteautoc..._the_test/
