For those that care...I don't believe this supports apt-x codec. I was in the market for one of these a few days ago to place in my car (a 2008 Infiniti G37S Coupe) so that I can stream slacker radio wirelessly from my phone to my car. I did a lot of research to find one of these that supported the following:

1. Bluetooth 4.0+
2. Apt-x codec to improve sound quality and the fact that my Samsung Note 4 also supports apt-x
3. Auto-turn on and auto-connect when I started my car because I don't want to have to open my center console where I am going to be hiding it to turn it on every time.

After an hour or two of going through amazon and looking at various bluetooth receivers that support A2DP, I finally ended up finding this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Brightech-B...ge_o00_s00

I apologize if it seems I am taking away from this post but just want to inform all other buyers in case you are interested and can benefit from the same things I wanted out of an A2DP bluetooth receiver for your car.
Just want to put this out there -- this unit has to be connected to a device with a Bluetooth interface (software) in order to work.
I purchased it in an attempt to stream sound from a record player (aux In) to a set of Bose bluetooth speakers. The problem is that neither the record player, nor the speakers have an interface built in to control the receiver/transmitter. Therefore they would not connect.
Not shitting on the deal, just want potential buyers to understand that.
I just received this one :
http://www.amazon.com/G-Cord-Wire...ge_o01_s00

For three dollars more, it works as a receiver and a transmitter. I am using it as a transmitter to send audio from my TV to my bluetooth headphones.

I just bought this 2 weeks ago to hook up to speakers I have in my garage and it works great! Now, I don't have to leave my phone laying out on my workbench to listen to music when I'm out there.
If I had a need for another, I would get this again.

Would this work with a 1974 Sony transistor radio?

Yeah - assuming whoever you buy from ships the same product I received it is legit. I use it in my car, works flawlessly.

worth it. I have 2... not sure why I have two but I'd buy a third.

I got tired of breaking AUX cables and got this instead. I've used it from snowboarding to every day driving. it's really useful when you dont want cables running from your phone and getting in the way.

I have one of these, and it's the main reason I didn't need Google ChromeCast Music. If you don't mind Bluetooth, this product works.
