Hi Everyone,

I have been looking for AmericanExpress $250 welcome offer for few months now. I tried the VPNs and Incognito modes on the browser but the max I was able to get to was $150 on the Blue Cash Everyday. As usual I tried yesterday and I checked on AmericanExpress's "Check for pre-qualified offers [americanexpress.com]" tab on their website and surprisingly I was offered the $250 cashback +$200(upto .. on cell carrier bills)

YMMV. All I wanted to inform you guys is if someone has been waiting for this offer it worth a try and see if AmericanExpress has put together an offer for your profile.

Note: The second part of the welcome upto $200 cash back when the card is used to pay for the cell carrier bills is only valid until Dec 31 2016. So bills after that will not be counted for the 10% cash back. So it will useful only you use this card on bills starting early in the year.

Thanks

Seems random and not based on credit history. Getting $100 back offer and my credit is stellar, >800.

That's fantastic. How long did it take you to get that high?

lol, sorry, I have no words of wisdom on it- never checked my score it until I went to buy a house last year...just an engineer living well within means. maybe that makes me uninteresting enough for them to want me to have another amex card, have had their blue card since it was new.

Merely checking to see if your pre-qualified does NOT create a hard pull. You must actually apply for the card for it to create a hard pull on your credit.

Also, if you already have an Amex card and are denied, then you will only incur a soft pull.

If you have an Amex and are approved, it will result in a hard pull. If you don't have any Amex cards and are approved OR denied, it will result in a hard pull.

Well, good to know. Fantastic deal, if you can get one without a hard pull.

EDIT: I misunderstood, pre-screen never involves hard pull, but getting a new card definitely does.
