Hmmm. I don't really want the cards, and if I get it from Amazon, some UPS guy rings my doorbell and hands it to me on the Tuesday morning of the release. Both are $22.99...

Don't forget the $5 GC with this one, and if you have a redcard, even a little cheaper.

What I don't get is, what's exclusive about this packaging? Is it that the plastic case itself is red and presumedly it's going to be standard blue color from other retailers? The slipcover looks identical to the one I'm looking at over on Amazon.

Based on the details, I assume so:

Exclusive Packaging + Collectible Postcards. Product includes red Blu-ray case and a pack of 8 Deadpool postcards from locations around the globe.

This is a Fox title. Since 2014 their codes have been UV =OR= ITunes.
Here is a little list with updates for the major sudios I just posted. It's pretty easy to commit to memory once you have looked at it a few times at least in regards to new releases to know for the most part what to expect when you see a Sony, a Warner Bros., a Fox, a Universal, or a Paramount New Release. (Lionsgate can be UV or UV =AND= I-Tunes depending on if it's a major studio release, and anything coming from their subsidiary Summit should have UV =AND= ITunes but the rest are easy to remember.

So many of these "exclusive" packaging items seem targeted to the section of movie collectors that MUST own all versions of all movies they collect. It's one thing if the exclusive is AT LEAST like a steel book, that's at least something truly different.

In this case, like with Walmart & Target's "exclusive" Star Wars T.F.A. it was the bare minimum of effort and its too bad that it didn't matter to consumers because they were gobbled up, telling those companies YEAH MAN! You nailed it when in fact it was a purely $#i+ job on both their parts.
It's clever for Best Buy, Target, & Walmart to make a limited run of some of these popular titles (I don't mean that it doesn't strike me as $hady, just a clever money grab when they half @$$ it, recognizing of the OCD nature of many movie collectors need to own it anyway). They could have taken a dump, in a steelbook, wrapped it in Star Wars art and people would lined up to own the exclusiveness of it.

It's too bad that AT THE VERY LEAST they didn't capitalize on the some of the very clever ads that were made for Deadpool (the ones that didn't spoil the movie by showing the best highlights of it) by having Deadpool doing something clever or funny on the cover that really would have been a big draw given what a scamp he is to show case that instead of the S.S.D.D cover.

P.S. this is high on my must own a copy movie list (but it's a Fox title and this is SDs. There is a better than average chance that this will be $10 or better by Black Friday for the patient and Froogle Hoosier crowd out there. A starting price of $19.99 w/ $5 GC would at least be easier to rationalize that with getting it 5-6 months earlier for $5 more isn't too bad. Could even split it up and sell some of it off to defray costs but I think of all the other deals I could get for that amount of money in the mean time before picking it up for $10 or better yet like I did with Spy & Kingsman and got movie cash with them for the same price.

Vs $18 +/- Tax after - 5% Red Card counting the $5 Gift Card (fuzzy math) as good as cash. In that time that $18 would buy a lot of truly on sale movies.
Their big hits last year 2015 that came out later in the year Spy (Sept/Oct) & (The) Kingsman (June) were both $10 at multiple places on Blk Friday. And X-Men D.O.F.P. which was very new in Mid-Oct. 2014 the previous year when Blk Friday arrived sold for $10 too and that had barely been released on video a month and a week earlier.

Not preorder from target anymore. Don't get it on release day is a bummer.
