Might have to pick a few up today, need to organize and clean up some messes and these would work great.

By the way, the email from home depot looks like it has a typo, says they're 25 gallons. When I first saw that, I thought these were special size for the sale or something.

Are these the same quality as the ones from Lowe's put Costco? I remember in a thread for the ones from Lowe's people were commenting about one of the three being inferior to the others, can't remember which one.

I have over 20 of these for storing all kinds of stuff. They are very strong and durable and seem to handle stacking much better than any rubbermaid bin that usually start to cave in.

Do you think these totes would work for my situation?

I'm looking for a few storage totes to store items on a balcony. The totes would have a roof over them, so that rain won't touch the totes. However, because the totes are outdoors on a balcony, they will be exposed to natural elements, including wind and dust.

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

Does the 15 off 30 work with this?

these are awesome - lid snaps on without adding height,
but structural ribbing does reduce some of the space use.

thanks OP, I'm in the market for bins and shelving so i grabbed 3 to pick up on
monday as i hate going to hd over a spring weekend when the place is mobbed.

btw a softer bin with more optimized space is the 37gal rubbermaid roughneck
which is the same length width footprint as this 27gal hdx, but 3 inches taller.

WARNING: the 27gal hdx sold online in 5 packs is slightly different measurement
i called hd cust.serv and they confirmed it's a variation of the in store only sold tote.

Heello, Tofu Vic! I always appreciate your posts. I think these would be fine on a balcony, because the way the lids snap on. For extra piece of mind, you might put some weatherstripping on the inside edge just to be on the safe side. I have 12 of them and they are very sturdy. I keep them in my garage and have not noticed any moisture issues.

tofu, to add to what husky wrote. these totes have 6 strap cutouts where water can get in to the tote during a rain, so that should be where the rain vulnerability needs to be.
simply covering those 6 slots with a few layers of duct tape should be enough to keep the rain and snow out, but not humidity in general.
sterilite makes a tote with a foam seal all around but it's not air tight, just more bug and moisture proofing than the average tote; http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KL7VPWO

These are great! I use them to store my spare auto parts in. VERY durable! I've got them loaded with at least 60 lbs of parts and stacked. No issues.
